New Blog Segment: “Reader Reviews”

reader reviews

The last time I launched a new segment here on JaypeeOnline was about eight years ago – September 7, 2008 when I added the Weekend Roundup. Today, I’m happy to announce the launching of a new blog segment called “Reader Reviews“.

So what is this about? One of the main reasons why I keep on blogging is because I find great joy in sharing information and I get a sense of fulfillment whenever I get to help other people. But all this time, I’m always the one doing the “talking”. I thought that it would be a good idea to share the time, space and opportunity with our readers here on JaypeeOnline so they could get to share their thoughts and opinions about tech-related products and services that they have recently used or purchased.

Please don’t expect these reviews to be like the ones I post it here or like what you read on other technology blogs/websites because there aren’t your traditional reviews. These will be short and simple product reviews that are similar to product reviews that customers provide when they purchase stuff on sites like Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Overstock, Toys-R-Us, Walmart, etc.

Like I mentioned earlier, these are not traditional reviews so there’s no default format but to help give you an idea on what to write, I’ve listed a few things below that you can use as a guideline and include on your review.

  • Reason for buying product/service
  • Features you like and dislike about the product/service
  • Pros and cons of using the gadget or online product/service
  • Additional information, unforgettable experience or thoughts about the gadget or online product/service
  • Would you recommend this product/service to your family and friends?
  • Optional: product photos or screenshots

I already have one review submitted by a regular reader and I’ll be publishing it either at the end of this week or early next week. So watch out for it.

Since this is a new segment, it will undergo a test period of about 2-3 months to see how the response will be. If we get a good response from you guys, then Reader Reviews can become a regular segment like the Weekend Roundup but on a monthly basis. But who knows, if we get a lot of submitted reviews then we might even make it into a weekly or bi-weekly segment. By the way, this is open to everyone – from long time regular readers to first time readers.

If you would like to submit or share your review, please send it via email to jphabaradas[at]gmail[dot]com as an in-line attachment, html/text file or Microsoft Word document or via the Contact page using the subject line “Submit a Reader Review“. You can choose to provide your full name or choose to use only your first name or nickname if you wish to remain anonymous. Reviews will be edited for grammatical and typographical errors but other than that, it will remain unedited and in the condition it was received. Personal information such as names and email addresses as well as the reviews themselves will never be shared outside of JaypeeOnline.

This is also a good opportunity for those of you who are planning on entering the world of blogging and starting a blog of your own but don’t have the avenue or audience to share it to. If for some reason you think that you would want to submit more than one review, you are more than welcome to do so. Please just make sure that you write the review yourself and didn’t copy/paste it from another blog/website or other sources online. Another thing to take note of, this is not for guest bloggers. If you want to submit a guest article please check out the Guest Post Guidelines page.

I’m really excited about this and I’m looking forward to receiving, reading and sharing your reviews here on JaypeeOnline. If you have any feedback or suggestions to make this new segment better, please feel free to share it by leaving a comment below. Thank you and have a nice day!
