For someone who loves technology, the launching or releasing of new devices and gadgets is always a fun and exciting event. New laptops, smartphones, smartwatches and tablets are cool but personally, I get more excited with gadgets that provide more than the basic needs of users. One such product is the AEGIS PRO headphones.
What makes the AEGIS PRO different from other headphones? It is designed to protect users from noise-induced hearing loss. The AEGIS PRO is the world’s first and only studio quality wireless headphones outfitted with the newly optimized jamsDEFENDER technology, a technology that combines volume limiting, active noise cancellation and digital decibel equalizer.
Did you know that 1.1 Billion youth worldwide are at risk of hearing-loss due to unsafe listening practices? Hearing loss is a global problem and the 3rd most common health problem in the United States. Even the World Health Organization is advocating to protect our hearing by “keeping the volume down”.
Because of this problem as well as a concern to help children, teens and adults, 16-year-old Kingsley Cheng set out to design headphones that prevents noise-induced hearing loss.
Check out the rest of the awesome features of the AEGIS PRO:
In order to get this device into production, Kingsley Cheng has brought it to popular crowdfunding platform – Kickstarter with a $25,000 goal. As of this writing, it has already more than doubled that number –$54,503 with still 29 days to go thanks to 432 backers. If this project reaches $65,000, all AEGIS PRO packages will be shipped with a rubber hard case instead of the pouch.
So why should you support the AEGIS PRO headphones Kickstarter project? Because it provides an answer to one of the most common global health problems and has the potential to revolutionize the auditory safety. If you want to avoid or reduce the risk of noise-induced hearing-loss for yourself, family members and friends then you would seriously consider getting a device like this.
Aside from that, there are other factors or reasons why the AEGIS PRO is an awesome pair of headphones. First of all is the Price. It costs half the price of most popular headphones in the market at $99. Well that’s if you back the project because once it gets released to the public sometime in January 2016, the MSRP will be $149. Second, the 14-hour battery life is better than the Beats Solo2 Wireless On-Ear Headphones ($219.95) which has a 12-hour battery life. Last but not least, it offers Dual connectivity which gives users more flexibility and mobility.

I’ve been in touch with one of the co-founders and I’m hoping I could get one of the review units at the end of this month. If I do get my hands on one, I’ll post a hands-on review of the AEGIS PRO headphones.
