It’s been close to two months now since I unboxed the FlexiSpot EG1W-40 Adjustable Standing Desk. I’ve been able to use it for a considerable amount of time so today, I’m going to share with you my full review.
Before we proceed, I’d like to make it clear that although this product was provided by FlexiSpot, this is going to be an honest review based on the experience I’ve had with the FlexiSpot EG1W-40. I will share everything that I know about this product in the limited time that I’ve had it with me.
For the basic features, product specifications, and some product photos, please refer to my unboxing post. This review will be divided into different segments: Packaging, Design & Quality, Performance, and Affordability.
FLEXISPOT EG1W-40 PRODUCT REVIEW
If you have read or seen my unboxing post, you already know that the packaging for this product is excellent. As you can see in the photo I inserted below, all the different parts of the product are neatly separated and protected by styrofoam liners. Aside from the styrofoam liners, most of the parts, especially the metal ones are also wrapped individually in plastic.
The Allen wrenches, screws, and wooden pins come in a plastic bag that is marked with letters and individually separated, making it easy to identify.
DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
In terms of design and build quality, this is one of the things you’ll immediately notice if you purchase or already own a FlexiSpot product.
The metal frame which consists of the lifting columns, support plates, and desk feet is made from good, solid materials that make it very sturdy. The paint job on the metal frame is also well done.
The same can be said for the desktop part. This part is made of wood, chipboard to be exact which is composed of up to 70% recycled material. It also features a curved and protective edge to ensure safety in your work environment.
Talking about the desktop, it is equipped with dual cable management holes to help you keep your workspace neat and organized. Unfortunately, the FlexiSpot EG1W-40 doesn’t have an under desk cable management feature so you’ll either have to purchase a third-party product or be creative and come up with your own DIY cable management system.
Just so you know, the FlexiSpot EG1W-40 is available in two color options: Maple Worktop & White Deskframe and Mahogany Worktop & Grey Deskframe.
Performance-wise, in the short period (almost two months) that I’ve had the FlexiSpot EG1W-40, I can frankly say that it has performed very well and has met or even exceeded my expectations.
Since this is an electric adjustable standing desk, we have to talk about how the adjustment system works. The FlexiSpot EG1W-40 comes with a simple 2-button controller (Up & Down) that allows you to adjust the height of the desk when you want to switch from sitting down to standing up and vice versa.
The controller is very responsive and is also very quiet, operating at under 50 dB, allowing you to adjust your desk quietly without disturbing your co-workers or family members.
I haven’t had any major issues with the product except for one instance where the desk wouldn’t lift up. Good thing the instruction manual or installation guide that shipped with the product included instructions on how to do a reset which quickly fixed the problem.
By the way, in case you come across the same issue, here’s how to fix it:
- Make sure the desk is at its lowest position.
- Press the down button for 3-5 seconds.
- You’ll know if the reset was successful when you see the lifting system go all the way down and then slightly bounce up.
Is it too expensive or does the price fit the budget? Affordability is usually one of the things that top the list of requirements for most consumers.
I did a quick search on the Internet and saw that compared to other notable or popular brands, FlexiSpot products were generally priced lower thus making them more affordable.
Aside from that, I also compared the FlexiSpot EG1W-40 with other electric adjustable standing desks with the same specifications and saw it was the cheapest.
The FlexiSpot EG1W-40 is a must-have for any working professional. It is a budget-friendly option for those WFH (Work From Home) folks who want to upgrade their home office.
If you’re planning on getting an electric adjust standing desk, then I personally recommend the FlexiSpot EG1W-40 or any FlexiSpot product not only for its good design and excellent quality but also for its affordability. Right now, they have a pre-Black Friday sale that runs until November 25 where you can save up to 35% OFF.
One more thing. Aside from the design, quality, performance, and affordability, I know that customer service/support is also very important. Since I haven’t had any issues with this product so far, I haven’t gotten the chance to deal with their customer service/support so I can’t talk about it here.
Do any of you guys out there own an electric adjustable standing desk? If not, are you thinking about getting one?
