Remember the SnapPower USB Charger that we unboxed a couple months back? Today we’re gonna share with you our hands-on experience, photos as well as our thoughts about this cool device.
In case you’re not familiar with this product or missed our unboxing post, here’s a short introduction:
The SnapPower Charger transforms any regular power outlet coverplate into a sleek and energy-efficient USB charger. It is very easy to install and doesn’t require any wires or batteries.
Before we proceed I strongly recommend that you read the instruction manual first before performing the installation. The manual contains important information and instructions to help you with installation and troubleshooting. Another important thing to remember, use necessary precaution and safety measures when dealing with electricity.
First thing you need to do is select the outlet where you want to install the SnapPower Charger. Take note that these products are only compatible with the standard duplex or decor outlets that has the side screw terminals.
Since it doesn’t require any wires or batteries, the only tool you’ll need for the installation is a screwdriver. Check the outlet and see if you’ll need a Slotted or Philips screwdriver.
If you have already selected an outlet, TURN OFF the power source at the circuit breaker to prevent electrical shock. Make sure that you TEST and confirm that the power is OFF before you proceed with the installation.
Next thing to do is to remove the screw that secures the coverplate then remove the coverplate. Check inside to see if the areas around the screw terminals are clear and not blocked.
Place the SnapPower USB Charger over the outlet and secure it by putting back the screw you removed earlier.
When you’re done, you can now TURN ON the electrical power at the circuit breaker.
To test it, just get a USB cable and any USB-powered device then plug it into the SnapPower USB Charger’s port.
Like I mentioned earlier, the SnapPower USB Charger is very easy to install. It took me less than 5 minutes to do it. The only thing that delayed me was having to go down to the basement and turning the circuit breaker ON/OFF.
With the SnapPower USB Charger you won’t have to waste time finding your charger whenever you need it because you already have one right on your wall outlet. It will also free up your current regular chargers and use it for something else like for traveling on roadtrips or vacations.
Although I really like the SnapPower USB Charger, it would be nice to have 2 USB ports instead of just 1 with one of those having an output of 2.0A for tablets and high-end smartphones.
In these day and age where we all own a device or multiple devices, it’s very practical to purchase a device such as the SnapPower USB Charger. Not only will it make your wall outlets more functional but it will also make a nice present for family and friends this coming holiday season.
The SnapPower USB Charger is available from the official website or from Amazon.com. I checked both websites and found out that shipping is cheaper on Amazon ($4) than on the SnapPower website ($10). However, if you’re gonna buy in bulk it is way more cheaper on the official website because they offer bulk discount prices while Amazon doesn’t.
