WP Theme Review: Pure Magazine

I know many of you guys liked that theme because of the quality of the design, functionality, customizability and tons of options that it provides. Well, you’re in for a treat because the author of Isotherm News Magazine has recently released another freemium magazine styled WordPress theme called Pure Magazine.

My Take:
Another awesome freemium WordPress theme from Željan Topić of Bizzartic. Like the IsoTherm News theme, the Pure Magazine could’ve easily been sold as a premium theme and people would’ve bought them. It has so many features and its very customizable that you can practically do whatever with it.

For me, the feature that stands out from this theme is the full flexible layout, which lets you mix and match the different front page sections into different combinations and match it according to your taste/preference. From the screenshots you can see that the header looks a bit awkwardly placed between the news stream and the featured post, well thats only one of the combinations that you can do with the layout flexibility of Pure Magazine. If you don’t like that, you can easily change that in the theme options page.

I love the News Stream section where you can display recent posts from different categories and showcase it on your homepage. If you don’t have the time or skills to customize the theme, you can choose from 13 different background images to style your blog. For those of you who love widgets, this theme is widget-ready and has a fully widgetized front page and includes 5 custom widgets for Flickr, Twitter, a 300×250 ad banner, Popular posts and Recent posts.

Like the IsoTherm News theme, this theme has a ton of features that I can’t go through them one-by-one. If you wanna see how the Pure Magazine works, you can check out the demo but better yet, you can just download it, install and upload to your server and play with it. Although this theme is primarily designed for large news sites, I don’t see why it can’t be used on a personal blog or niche blog. I’m sure with its full flexible layout, tons of features and customizability, you can make it work for you.

Once again, hats off to Željan Topić for another awesome freemium WordPress theme. Can’t wait to see your next WordPress theme release.

@Julio – I haven’t had time to go through the theme files yet but have you read the installation instructions thoroughly? It would be best to ask the theme author himself because he knows it better than I do. Btw, I just checked the author’s blog and found this link regarding problems with the auto-resized images not showing up. You might want to check that out.

Thanks for the compliments and thanks for stopping by! :)

I’m having a problem with this theme, my images don’t display on the News Stream, I mean, I can’t make the images display on the homepage, not even on the Featured Post Box, see my website to confirm what I’m saying http://www.ontugaline.com I made some test posts but the images don’t display on the homepage, and I really want them to at least appear on the News Stream.

I will appreciate any help, btw great site jaypee, keep up the good work.

@Jhay – Oh okay. Your comment gave me the impression that you’re planning to change your theme soon. Anyways, that’s a good idea. Get the blogging rhythm first and then come up with good quality posts. The new theme/layout can wait. ;)

@ Jaypee: I’m not really that keen to switch themes at the moment. I’d like to focus more on regaining my old blogging rhythm and come up with good quality posts.

Though I’ve already downloaded a copy of this theme for keeps.

@Jhay – I know, right? Correct me if I’m wrong but I haven’t seen a theme that has that feature even in premium themes.

Really? Does that mean you’re gonna be using a magazine style on your blog soon?

@Michael – Its primarily designed for news sites but yes, it could be used for business blogs. At the same time, I don’t see why it can’t be used for a personal blog as I know many users who like magazine style themes. :)

Yes, I purchased my theme from WooThemes and its called the Fresh News theme. Its one of their most popular and in-demand themes.

This new theme is just awesome! This is the first theme I’ve seen that sports that flexible layout functionality.

And lastly, the typography of this theme has finally satisfied my tastes.
