WP Theme Review: IsoTherm News Magazine

I was supposed to do a review of a WordPress theme called Iniut Types a few days back but I wasn’t able to finish the draft. I guess it was a blessing in disguise because when I tried to finish the post, I found out that the theme author released another theme which in IMO is much better than the one I was supposed to review. So I changed my mind and today I’ll be sharing my review of the IsoTherm News Magazine WordPress theme created by Željan Topić of bizzArtic.

My Take:
The IsoTherm News Magazine WordPress theme is an extraordinary theme, especially for a free theme. If you want a flexible theme that will let give you control practically over every area of the theme, then you’ll definitely like the IsoTherm News Magazine WordPress theme. With the design quality and tons of features, Željan could easily make money selling it as a premium theme but he chose not to and instead just share it with us and to the WordPress community. With that, I guess we can consider this theme as a free premium WordPress theme.

I like this theme so much that I’ll be using it on my of my upcoming projects. The IsoTherm News Magazine is just the right type of theme that I was looking for and I’m sure I’ll be having lots of fun tinkering and tweaking this theme. If you’re into minimalistic and magazine styled themes, you’ll love this theme especially with all its features. I know it might be a bit intimidating for some to have so much stuff to configure in the theme settings page but this were created to make it easier for the user to customize the theme. Some WordPress themes can only dream of the features that the IsoTherm News Magazine has, including some “premium” themes out there.

As I said earlier, I reallly like this theme a lot and all of its features and as much as I would like to go through all of it, I couldn’t because I’m gonna run out of time and I’ll end up with a very looong post. What I can tell you is that, you need to give this theme a try so you can see and experience it for yourselves. I’m pretty sure most of you guys are gonna like it.

Kudos to Željan for doing an excellent job with this theme and I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s looking forward to the WordPress themes he’ll be releasing in the near future.

  1. Jaypee….I must say you have reviewed an awesome theme. Great share buddy.

Anyway jaypee do you have any idea how good this theme is from SEO point of view?

  2. This theme looks so much to look upon and study whole details and i surely think it beats thesis , so called the top wp theme ,
still unbelievable with plenty of options , would surely try it once i chk out with wordpress hosting :D

  3. @christian – Thanks for sharing about the validation issues. I know some folks are very particular about validation and stuff but in case you don’t know even big websites aren’t free from these type of errors. :D

  4. Just the theme I am looking for to update my website.

However, I checked its code on the XHTML/CSS validator and his has a ton of errors! Plug in the demo link here: http://validator.w3.org/

I still love the layout and design. Please update the post if the errors are fixed!

  5. @Nihar – Yes, this is a great theme especially for a free WordPress theme. If you decide to use this theme, let us know and share your thoughts or experience using it. Thanks! :)

  6. Great theme. I am thinking of changing my theme as it is more than one year.

and i found you. Tonight i will check the theme features and try this out.

  7. @Harsh – Yeah, the theme author really provided a lot of options for the user to customize and control certain features for this theme. Thanks for stopping by and for the compliments. :D

  8. another good theme to look at. Thanks for all the reviews Jaypee. Maybe I dont need to purchase a premium one! hmmm

  9. @K – Haha..I can imagine. Yes, that would suck big time. You know what, you can do something about that. What you can do is install Portable Firefox or Portable Safari on your usb thumb/key drive so next time, you won’t have to deal with IE 6. :D

  10. It sucks when you are at the office desk using the only terminal available with an IE v6.0 browser, the next thing you see is sidebars on the bottom because it doesn’t fit in width. Frustrating!

Looks like a cool new theme, well I change theme here and there which I did yesterday. I didn’t see this so will check when I get home.

  11. @Ade – How often do you change themes? Maybe you can keep this theme for future use, next time you do a theme reboot. Unless of course you find a different theme that you like better. :)

  12. @Jan Alvin – Thanks! Glad you like it. Settings page for WordPress themes? That would be a great idea for a tutorial. I’ll work on it and let you know when its published or you can subscribe to the RSS feed so you won’t miss it. :)

  13. Looks good. If I were updating regularly, I'd go for a magazine-type theme, and I'd go for that one. When you said "sexy", it <em>really</em> is.

  14. @jan – Personally, I prefer themes that have more design elements like the one I’m using right now. I try to feature all types of themes for my reviews, that’s why I include minimalistic themes. :)

I guess the theme author just wanted to share to the WP community. Actually it was like this in the beginning for WP themes, then someone got the idea of selling premium WP themes.

  15. @Raju – Haha..I know! The first thing that you notice with this theme is the settings page. Can’t help but be amazed with it having so much stuff. I’m looking forward to future releases by this author.

    You’re welcome! ;)

  16. @Gem – This theme could easily be sold as a premium theme if the author wanted to. Yes, there are so MANY settings to tinker with in the theme settings page. Hehe :D

Most likely, your client is gonna want this theme.

  17. jan_geronimosays:

So it's true. You have this minimalistic tendency running amok inside you. lol. And if you yourself will be using this theme on one of your upcoming projects, who am I to rain on your parade? Which means I approve of your choice. As if you need one. hahaha.

If I have the talent to create a WP theme as fantastic as this one I'd think long before releasing it for free. What is he up to? Hasn't he made a name yet in theme design and this series is his vehicle? Puzzling. But maybe he needs more the recognition more than the money.

  18. It's an awesome theme indeed. I thought of using the Inuit Types for my new theme but then I saw Vigilance. Besides, Magazine-style themes are not suited for me at the moment. ;)

  19. True, it beats the features of Premium themes – I've already seen lots of them when I worked on these. That theme settings is really – OMG! – so many settings to tinker with.

I would probably recommend this theme to be used in one of my ongoing projects. I'm off to download this one.
