WordPress 3.0.1 Released

WordPress

WordPress 3.0 which is considered as one of the best and most stable releases of WordPress, has already been downloaded 11 million times in a span of just 42 days. However, that doesn’t mean that this version of WordPress is perfect and that it doesn’t have any bugs or problems. With that said, the WordPress dev team has released WordPress 3.0.1 to address around 50 minor issues.

If you’re already running WordPress 3.0 on your blog, you can do the upgrade two ways. First, you can do it the old fashioned way – manually. Second, you can do it via the WordPress admin – Dashboard > Updates.

The WordPress dev team would also like to inform those who have downloaded WordPress 3.0.1 during the first 20 minutes of its release (before 2200 UTC), to redownload/reinstall it. They don’t say exactly what happened or what’s wrong but I’m guessing that the version they released for download was the old version and not the one with the bug fixes.

Before you do any upgrades, make it a habit to backup your WordPress database. You never know what could happen or go wrong during the upgrade process that’ll mess up your blog. Better safe than sorry folks!
