UPDATED: 02/04 Edited the rules and added a few lines.
As most of you know, I’ve started the Top Commentator of the Month (TCOTM) award here on JaypeeOnline. For those of you who don’t know what this is about, I’ll be giving away prizes at the end of each month to the person/reader who has left the most comments for that month. Prizes may vary for each month. For January, I gave away $15 via PayPal and some WordPress schwag. This February, aside from the cash and schwag, I’ll also be giving away a WordCamp Las Vegas tshirt.
Below is the current list of top commentators for this month.
RULES
1. Comments should be in English.
2. Comments should be related to the blog post or discussion.
3. Comments should contain at least one full sentence. No one-liners. (ex. Thanks! Cool!)
4. Comments are limited to 10 per person per day.
5. No consecutive winners*.
6. Prizes not claimed within 30 days would be forfeited and given to the next eligible contestant.
I’m requiring English comments so that other readers/visitors would be able to understand other people’s comments and to encourage discussion not only with me but also with other readers.
These rules were made so that there will be a standard and prevent people from “gaming” the system. Btw, these rules only apply to readers who want to be eligible for the Top Commentator of the Month award. Comments that don’t fall under these criteria will still be approved but will not count for the TCOTM award.
*To give other commentators a chance, the Top Commentator for the previous month are automatically disqualified for the current month. You will be eligible to join on the following month. However, you are still welcome and encouraged to join in the discussions and leave your comments.
If you have any questions, feedback or concerns regarding the Top Commentator of the Month, feel free to leave a comment below.

@K – You just found out about it now? Hehe its all good coz you don’t need the stuff I’m giving away. Just kidding. You’re more than welcome to join but I do appreciate you taking the time to stop over and leave comments on my blog. You’re one of the people who’ve been visiting and commenting on JaypeOnline for a long time now. Thanks! :D

@elmot – Really? That’s weird. Yeah, if you can subscribe again using another email account please do and let me know if it works this time. If not, I’ll have to take a look at my FeedBurner account settings and make sure everything’s working fine. Thanks for letting me know about this though. :)

actually jayps, i already signed up twice on your subscription, but until i havent received any confirmation yet.
i dont know the prob? i checked my mail’s spam folder but its empty.
ill just sign up again using another email maybe?
March 12th, 2009 at 12:15 am
@elmot – Oh I see. Maybe the confirmation email got sent to your junk/spam folder? Anyways, thanks for re-subscribing.
Btw, is this where you signed-up for gravatar?
http://en.gravatar.com/site/signup
You should get an activation email with a link. Click on it and it will bring you to a page where you have to fill out some extra information like nickname and password. After you do that, it will bring you to your Gravatar account and from there, add an image as your gravatar. You also might wanna check that the activation email didn’t get sent to the junk folder.
Hope that helps. If not, just try to register again.

yup…i filled once again my subscription coz the last times i did, no confirmation email was sent.
by the way, i tried also to register to gravatar but there is a prob i think. it only send me a link back for me to make my account but only until there and nothing else…

@elmot – You mean email subscriptions? What email address did you use coz I tried checking it and the one you use for comments is not on the list. If you want, you can try subscribing again and wait for the confirmation/verification email, then let me know. :)

@elmot: For once, Madam Auring is right. :) But she didn’t warn me I’d be literally driven up the wall pursuing my dream of a WP t-shirt.
If truth be told, I’m still sore to this day from trying hard to catch up with you on those fateful last three days of February. :)
March 1st, 2009 at 7:25 pm
@elmot – You did a wonderful job yourself. It was a close one. :D
March 1st, 2009 at 7:20 pm
congrats jan! madam auring’s power is certainly all well.
February 28th, 2009 at 6:25 am
@jan – Regarding the comments that contain a few phrases of Tagalog, I’ll allow it as long as I can determine that the comment can still be understood by other readers.

More on rules: you urged commentators to write in English to encourage everybody regardless of nationality to participate in the conversation. My question is what if I have made a comment for most parts in English. But there’s a phrase or two in it in Filipino, will this particular comment be invalidated?

@loy: that’s a valid suggestion. It’s so hard to keep up with some people here – are they on steroids or something? LOL. Limiting the number of comments per day make an obsessed blogger return to his own blog and be productive for a change. I am addressing this to myself, of course. In matters of truancy, I’m tops. :)
February 5th, 2009 at 1:35 am
@loy – Hmm..that’s a very good suggestion. I guess I’ll do it so that comments would be spread out throughout the month. Thanks!

Jaypee, maybe you should limit the number of eligible comments for each day. It would be downright disastrous if someone is leading on the tally board and all of the sudden, being overtaken by somebody else who makes a huge commenting binge on the last days of the month. Just a suggestion, though. :-)
