WordPress for Nokia App Now Available

On my post about the release of WordPress for iOS version 2.6, one of my readers – Abhik asked if there was a WordPress app for Nokia or Symbian devices. I pointed him to the WordPress for Nokia Development Blog but at that time, the app was still under development (beta) and the stable version hasn’t been released yet.

Found out this morning that the WordPress for Nokia app was finally released a couple days back and is now available from the Ovi store – http://store.ovi.com/content/57192. The Ovi store page doesn’t contain much information so if you want to check if your Nokia/Symbian device is compatible with this app, you’ll have to click on the “Set my cell phone” button on the upper right section of the page. Although the WordPress for Nokia Development Blog does mention that the released app is not yet compatible with Symbian3 devices like the Nokia N8, C6, C7, etc. but is working on making it available to these devices soon.

Download the WordPress for Nokia app from the Ovi store.

Anyone tried the WordPress for Nokia app? What type/model of Nokia/Symbian device do you have and is the WordPress app compatible with your device? Please share your thoughts.

  1. @Abhik – Thanks for sharing your experience using this app! I think because there are not that much WordPress users using this Nokia app unlike the ones for Android and iOS, there’s not much feedback or testers so development isn’t as advanced or thorough as the Android and iOS apps. You’re right, they should’ve labeled it as beta. But I’m sure they’ll be working on it and making it better soon. :)

  2. Jay,
I installed the app and started using since you guided me to the development blog.
It’s still not bug free and hangs while publishing lengthy posts on my N97.

They should have tagged it with Pre-Release or Beta on OVI.

  3. @retz – really? that sucks! I think that’s just an error. How is it that a mobile blogging app is not available on certain parts of the world when it should be universal? :P

  4. I tried to checkout the site, unfortunately this came up:

“Sorry, this item is not available for your country.
Browse more great content in the “Related” section below.”

btw im at the office, luckily JPO isnt blocked. hehe
