Looking for a clean, simple and unique looking WordPress theme with a little character, then you might like this theme I’m reviewing today. The Zexee WordPress theme is a 2 column, widget-ready, colorful and unique theme released especially for the readers of Six Revisions. It has a widgetized sidebar, supports threaded comments and built-in gravatar support.

Basic Features:

My Take:
The Zexee WordPress theme is a unique theme because unlike most themes, it has the sidebar on its left. Aside from that, it also has custom background image and custom graphics that displays the date the post was published, the number of comments and a customized comment form. Aside from its unique looks, this theme has very good typography as well.

It has the basic functions that most WordPress users need like widgetized sidebar, built-in gravatar support and threaded comments support. The Zexee theme is a simple theme and doesn’t have some of the features that other free WordPress themes have but I’m sure other users who prefer simplistic themes won’t mind at all.

Some of the issues with this theme are: There is no documentation. The theme page doesn’t provide any instructions on how to use/configure the theme and the download file doesn’t have any readme.txt file. It doesn’t inform users that the theme requires one plugin – WP Page Navi, to be installed and the plugin itself isn’t included in the theme download. This can be a hassle for some users and I believe that if the theme requires any third party plugins or scripts, the theme author should inform users about it before hand.

Another issue that some users might have with this theme is that there is little room in the header section. This can be a problem if your blog has a long blog name/title and if you have many pages to display.

Other than those issues, the Zexee theme is a well designed theme with the basic features and functionalities most users look for and need in a WordPress theme. Many thanks to Aravind Ajith of The Design Superhero and the folks of Six Revisions for releasing this theme for free and sharing it to the WordPress community!
