While blog hopping a few weeks ago, I came across a simple yet elegant looking, minimalistic WordPress theme. I liked it so much that I decided to do a review of it especially since I haven’t done a WordPress theme review in a while.
The theme I’m sharing with you today is called the DW Minion Responsive WordPress theme created and designed by DesignWall. If you’re looking for a clean, minimalistic theme with great features and design, then the DW Minion theme should be in the top of your list. DW Minion supports 5 different blog or post formats – Standard, Link, Quote, Gallery and Video. Although I’m pretty sure this theme can be used for different types of WordPress-powered websites, the DW Minion theme is ideal for blogging.

The DW Minion theme is easily one of the best designed and fully-featured minimalistic themes I’ve seen or reviewed. Aside from the beautiful design and layout, it has several features that are not usually available in free WordPress themes.
If you notice, this theme has 3 columns and supports 2 sidebars with the main sidebar located on the left side and the secondary sidebar located on the right side. Both sidebars can be customized or modified via the Widgets section.
The built-in social toolbar located on the upper left corner of the theme, makes it easy for users to add links to their social network profiles so their followers and regular readers can also easily connect with them. Users can set up their Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn profile links via Appearance > Customize > Social Links.
The next & previous links, related articles and sidebar tabs sections make it easier for readers to navigate and look for other articles in the blog or website. It’s good to see this theme have built-in related articles/post section because I’ve come across a lot of premium WordPress themes that don’t have it.
Another bonus you get with this theme is that it has a responsive layout so if you decide to use this on your blog, you won’t need a plugin to make your site mobile-ready. The responsive layout will automatically adjust to the screen resolution of the device the reader is using.
I’m a bit picky when it comes to choosing or liking WordPress themes but I immediately liked this theme the moment I saw it and liked it even more after checking out its features. I liked it so much I planned to create a new blog just so I could use the DW Minion theme. Anyways, I downloaded the theme just in case I might need it in the near future.
The only cons I could think of is that the theme lacks information and documentation for installation/customization. The DW Minion demo features a section for 125×125 banner ads and Instagram, Dribble & Flickr photostreams but I couldn’t find any information on how to activate them or if I needed plugins to enable those features.
The DW Minion Responsive WordPress theme works with WordPress versions 3.5.2+ and supports the following browsers – IE 8+, Firefox 14+, Chrome 19+, Safari 5.1+ and Opera 12+.
With all these features and beautiful design, I’m sure many of you would ask how much this theme costs. The DW Minion theme is 100% FREE. All you need to do to get this theme for FREE is to tweet about it. That’s all the author asks in exchange for this beautiful work of art.
