Rumors of a next-generation iPhone have been all over the web the past few weeks and started when someone spotted an iPhone firmware referencing a certain “iPhone 2,1”. The original iPhone was referenced as 1,1, the iPhone 3G as 1,2 and if Apple stuck to their naming conventions, this would have to be the next version of the iPhone.
This image of the iPhone 4G concept came out a couple days ago and spread like wild fire. As you can see, this “upcoming” iPhone is sporting a titanium body and Apple’s new unibody Macbook design.
Specs:
- Titanium and Glass.
- OLED screen
- 3G
- GPS
- Front camera for iChat
- Removable battery
- 3.2 Megapixel camera
- Video
- 32 GB
If you ask me, the design looks okay but specifications-wise, I’m not impressed. I know these are only “fantasy” specs because this is just a concept phone, but if Apple wants to come up with a more competent device, they’ll have to provide better specs. A 3.2 megapixel camera? Common! It should be 5 megapixels at least. The only thing I like about it is the OLED screen/display which is better than a LCD display because it doesn’t require a backlight and uses less power. Apple should really come up with something more impressive as the competition is getting tougher.
Are you impressed with the iPhone 4G Concept? Do you like the unibody design or would you prefer a more “rounded” look? What specifications would you want or expect in the next iPhone model?

I prefer the current look of the iPhone. They should add user replaceable batteries.
But I’d rather invest in a MacBook Pro or a Cannon EOS 50D than an iPhone.
@elmot blogger: Thanks. Now I just to work doubly hard so I can save for it. No time to get sick, no spending on frivolous things, the works. Hayyys. Tough one.
@jan: indeed, a laptop is a wiser choice…is aint really a next generation gadget
@jhay – Ohh..looks like you’re hooked into photography now huh? I’m looking forward to getting a DSLR camera soon. :D
I’d go for a Nikkor wide-angle lens than to splurge money on another phone. ;)
@elmot – That’s true. Compared to the HTC Touch HD, Sony X1, Nokia N97 or the Toshiba TG01, this phone looks dull/mediocre.
looks quite a so-so, not really some head-turning phone, but indeed you are right with your observation…3.2 mega pixel?…hmmm…
@K – You think so? Well I guess that chances are high that the next iPhone would look like this, which isn’t a bad thing. I just hope that it has better specs than this concept model.
I’d say it’s gotta be true – if it is, then that’s a tiny iMac version for the titanium, thin and glass. And oh, front cam for iChat.
@jan – I know, right? A 3.2 megapixel is not acceptable especially for the next iPhone. It should at least have 5 megapixels.
Getting a laptop would definitely be a wiser decision. Yes, toys for the big boys. :D
You’re spot-on about that 3.2 megapixel cam feature. Why scrimp on that one when they can very well up the ante. After all, it’s a concept 4G phone. Personally, I’d rather save up for my first laptop. Only then will I entertain the notion of getting an iPhone. What is it again, this thing that separates men from boys? Yeah, the price of their toys. :)
@fruity – Its shiny coz its supposed to have a titanium body. Btw, what mobile phone do you have? If you don’t mind me asking that is. :D
@Ade – Yes, the design is just so-so. Nothing really impressive about it, even with the specs.
But the next iPhone could look totally different from this one. Remember, this is just a concept phone. :D
Looks shiny! Gosh, I feel so old skool with my plain old mobile phone, hehe.
Not too crazy about how it looks. It lacks the sleekness of the current iPhone.
