Everybody is on social media these days. I’m sure most of you have at least one and some even have more than one social network account – Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. People mostly use these social media accounts to share stuff like photos and videos to family and friends. The increase of sharing activity on social media has led to the rise of viral sites like BuzzFeed, Upworthy, and ViralNova just to name a few.
Aside from photos (which is the most shared type of content), there is also other stuff that people like to share on their social network accounts like opinions/comments, links to articles, recommendations, news items, and video clips. Go-Gulf – a web design, web app development, and logo design company has gathered different statistics regarding the type of content that people share and merged them into an infographic.

The infographic shows Turkey as the number 1 country with the most number of people who share on social networks. I didn’t expect Turkey to be the top country but I wasn’t surprised to see Brazil, India, and Indonesia in the top 5 but I was definitely expecting the Philippines to be in it or at least in the top 10.

Personally, I use Facebook to share photos, videos, and life events with family and friends. I use Google+ and Twitter to share links to useful and informative articles/websites as well as to network with brands/companies and other users who share the same interests. I use Pinterest to share my hobbies and interests.
