What People Share on Social Networks [Infographic]

Everybody is on social media these days. I’m sure most of you have at least one and some even have more than one social network account – Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. People mostly use these social media accounts to share stuff like photos and videos to family and friends. The increase of sharing activity on social media has led to the rise of viral sites like BuzzFeed, Upworthy and ViralNova just to name a few.

Aside from photos (which is the most shared type of content), there are also other stuff that people like to share on on their social network accounts like opinions/comments, links to articles, recommendations, news items and video clips. Go-Gulf – a web design, web app development and logo design company has gathered different statistics regarding the type of content that people share and merged them into an infographic.

Check out the infographic below to see what other people are sharing and which percentage you belong to in terms of sharing stuff on social media.

NOTABLE & INTERESTING STATS

  • Facebook and Google+ users shared photos more than other type of content.
  • Twitter users shared more about comments on daily activities.
  • There are more active male users on social networks compared to females.
  • People from the US tend to share more about news clips.
  • People from India tend to share more about film & movie trailers.
  • People from Indonesia tend to share more about fashion & style.

In the infographic, it shows Turkey as the number 1 country with the most number of people who share on social networks. I didn’t expect Turkey to be the top country but I wasn’t surprised to see Brazil, India and Indonesia in the top 5 but I was definitely expecting the Philippines to be in it or at least in the top 10.
