CyberPower ST425 Standby UPS System

CyberPower ST425 UPS System

One of the first things I purchased soon after I got my Dell Inspiron 5490 All-In-One desktop computer was a standby UPS system.

I’ve thought about getting one a few years back when I had the Apple iMac but for some reason, it slipped my mind, and totally forgot about it.

For those who aren’t familiar with UPS systems, UPS stands for (Uninterruptible Power Supply). According to the PC Mag encyclopedia, a UPS or UPS system is a device that provides battery backup when the electrical power fails or drops to an unacceptable voltage level. Small UPS systems provide power for a few minutes; enough to power down the computer in an orderly manner, while larger systems have enough battery for several hours. In mission-critical data centers, UPS systems are used for just a few minutes until electrical generators take over.

Being a Prime member, Amazon is always my first option whenever I need to purchase something online. After doing some research and browsing, I decided to buy the CyberPower ST425 UPS System which retails for $58.99 CAD. I picked this product because it had all the necessary features I needed from a UPS system. Another reason is that it has very good reviews (73% 5-star ratings out of 700+ reviews).

In this blog post, I’m going to share with you some of the unboxing photos as well as my initial experience in setting up the CyberPower ST425 UPS System.

I’ve only had the CyberPower ST425 for less than a month and in that period of time, we haven’t experienced any power outages in our area. Although I’ve been able to manually test it to make sure it works, I haven’t had the opportunity to see how it works in a real situation. I will update this post if I come across worth sharing about this product.

Obviously, I use the CyberPower ST425 for the Dell Inspiron 5490 All-In-One desktop. Aside from that, I also use it for my ASUS VG245 monitor (I have a dual monitor setup), Logitech Z313 speaker system, HP Envy 4520 printer, and Western Digital external hard drive.

By the way, this device is manufactured by Cyber Power Systems which is a totally different company from the CyberPower company that sells customized desktop computers.

If you don’t have one yet, I strongly suggest/recommend that you get a UPS system. Not only does it serve as backup battery power in case of a power shortage, but it also protects your computers and other electronic devices from sudden power surges. Buying a UPS system is a worthy investment and you will not regret it.
