Sakura is a 2 column, widget-ready Wordpress theme created by the guys from area381. The name “Sakura” which means Cherry blossom in Japanese, is a fitting name for this spring inspired theme.

Instead of the standard Hello World post, we decided to give you a gift. Today is the first day of spring and we prepared a special gift to all Wordpress users - a new, free Wordpress theme with spring motives.

WP Theme - Sakura

My Take:

Sakura’s design is very simple but elegant looking. It uses a spring motive and has a feminine look to it, so this theme is basically for the ladies. This is one of the best looking Wordpress themes I’ve seen in a while. I give the Sakura theme a 4.5 out of 5. To the guys at area381, great job!

Sakura was developed for newer versions of Wordpress (2.1 and above) which makes use of the language_attributes() function. So if you’re running an older version of Wordpress, you either upgrade your installation or remove the < ? php language_attributes(); ? > line from the header.php file to avoid having errors.

Future plans for the Sakura theme includes a 3 columned version. So watch out for it.

Preview or Download the Sakura theme.

It’s a beautiful theme. Too bad I just don’t see that much blogs that use this theme. Personal blogs would be best using this theme.

@Clawy - Yeah, it’s really a nice theme for ladies. You really should get back to blogging! I can help set it up for you and I’ll use this theme. How’s that? :)

@jhay - True. There are a lot of beautiful themes out there that many bloggers don’t even know about. Some of them are not listed in Themes.Wordpress.Net.

nice theme. Sakura is one of the main characters in Naruto. Sakura fans should have this one. I’ll wait for the 3 column theme and see if I will change my Naruto theme again… Whew!

Oo nga ang ganda ng pagkaka design nang sakura theme. Next time na ako magpapalit ng theme, at yung theme na gagamitin ko yung 3 columned version nyan.

  8. Jaypee Says:

@ash - I see. I didn’t know that since I’m not an avid fan of Naruto. Change theme again? It’s tiring and time consuming but fun! :D

@Grace - Hello! Yup, simple but neat design. I guess you and ash would have the same theme then. Hehe :D

[...] I can also see it being used for a guys personal blog. It’s kind of the equivalent of those stupid pink floral shirts we wear occassionally to prove that we’re comfortable with our feminine side (or is that just me?). The developers seem to be offering pretty good support on the blog, answering questions quickly and providing good information on plans for the theme: We plan to make and release another version of this theme that will have three columns (two sidebars), but we’re not sure at the moment when we’ll have enough time to do it. I love the attitude of the guys at area381, you can’t accuse them of under-promising, from the site: “we always give 110% of our strength and creativity to every project that we work on. Just make the first step by telling us what kind of website would you like to have and let us do the rest. At the end you get the website that will be better than you have imagined.” Downloads etc here, found here. [...]
