In my last blog update, I promised a review for one of the plugins I recently installed here in JaypeeOnline.
The plugin I’m talking about is the Better Comments Manager from Techie Buzz. The name is a giveaway. I’m sure you already have an idea on what this plugin is about or what it does.
Anyways, here’s a short description about it:
Better Comments manager allows you to view your comments post wise, it also allows you to reply to your comments from within admin panel without you having to visit the site to respond to comments.
Features:
1. Reply to comment from within Wordpress Admin Panel.
This feature can save you a lot of time. Now if you want to reply to a certain comment, you don’t have to click and visit each comment. All you have to do is click on the Reply link and type your reply right there. Once you submit it, your reply would be displayed in that particular post without you having to go to that post.
2. View All Comments based by posts.
This feature can be useful if you want to keep track of all the comments a certain post gets. Just click on the View All link and it will display all other comments for that specific post. This feature is another time saver and a good way of organizing your comments.
My Take:
Installing the Better Comments Manager is a piece of cake. Just unzip the “better-comments-manager” folder into your plugins folder and activate the plugin. After activating the plugin, just log in to your Wordpress admin panel and under the Comments section you’ll find a sub menu named “Better Comments Manager”. Just click on that link and you can start using the plugin features.
Btw, the Better Comments Manager plugin requires Wordpress 2.x and above. So check your Wordpress installation before you install and activate this plugin.
I love this plugin! The features are very simple but it does the job well. It saves me a lot of time. I no longer have to visit each post to reply to reader’s comments. This plugin is still in beta testing phase so expect some bugs. For now I give the Better Comments Manager a 4.5 out of 5 overall.

This is a good plugin, although I don’t usually reply to comments in my entries. Maybe I should start doing so.. Hmm…

@Dre - You should. It’s one way of keeping readers and making them appreciated.
@jhay - Before using this plugin I also prefer replying to comments from the individual post themselves but this plugin saves me a lot of time.

I’m not sure but I think it’s safe to assume that there are still some blogs running older versions of Wordpress.

@Sonnie - Yeah, you should try it. As far as I know and from using it for some time now, this plugin doesn’t have any conflicts or known issues with other plugins.
