WordCamp Philippines

WordCamp Philippines

If you’re a Pinoy blogger or a WordPress user/fan then most likely you’ve heard or read of this already. But in case you haven’t, I have good news for you. There will be a WordCamp held in the Philippines this coming September 6, 2008. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here’s a little info.

What is WordCamp?

WordCamp is a conference type of event that focuses squarely on everything WordPress. Everyone from casual end users all the way up to core developers show up to these events. These events are usually highlighted by speeches or keynotes by various people. WordCamp is a spin off from the popular BarCamp which was a spin off of FooCamp. - Weblog Tools Collection

WordCamp Philippines will be the first ever WordCamp organized and held in Asia. WordCamp Philippines is being organized by a group of Filipino bloggers based in Mindanao who were also responsible for organizing the successful 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit held last year.

What are the objectives of WordCamp Philippines?

…to encourage more developers to use and deploy WordPress, not only as a blogging engine but also as a full-featured content management system for Web sites. Another is to increase the number of WordPress users and developers in the country. By developers, we mean programmers of WordPress plugins and designers of themes & templates.

I know a lot of people are uber excited and can’t wait to get their hands on the Apple iPhone. Only a few people have had the privilege of having the iPhone in their hands even for just a few minutes.

For the majority who have seen it only from pictures and clips, I’m sure you’re curious and you’d want a glimpse of the iPhone and/or it’s features.

With it’s price tag, most of us won’t get an iPhone and that’s a fact. So how about having a piece of the iPhone? How about the ringtone? One of the basic features of a cellphone is it’s ringtone and the Apple iPhone has it’s own unique ringtone. I know a lot of people would want to have that ringtone on their phones right now so I’ve included the file in this post so you can hear how it sounds like.

iPhone Ringtone

This site sends the tone to your phone.

If you would like to get a copy of the file, just leave a comment and I’ll send it through email.

@acey - Hello! How much is what? the iPhone or the ringtone? If it’s the ringtone, it’s FREE! :D

hehe. I’m not sure if it can beat the popularity of the “nokia tune.”

With no buttons, nothing can be cooler than this phone. It should be the one phone you’d like to have if you’d like your friends to be envious and all.

I’d stick with Verizon. Thank you :)

@rhoen - I know! Are you gonna get one once it’s out? :)

@ron - Probably not but the Nokia tune is too common already. In Asia, especially in the Philippines Nokia would still be the most popular cellphone brand and when the iPhone reaches Asia, it would only be for the elite and rich.

@Major Tom - Exactly! Not only friends but also officemates and other family members too! Hehe :D

@Jim - I know Verizon has the better network but with this type of phone, I’d sacrifice my network. Hehe :D

The iphone definately looks and sounds cool but is not a necessity. An Xbox 360 is!!! haha. Got to pass on this one. The ringtone isn’t that fantastic. I prefer my hip hop ring tones! ;)

@trench - Well if you’re a gamer then an Xbox 360 is definitely better! Bout the ringtone, it’s for those people who can’t wait and would want to make their cellphones sound like the iPhone. Hehe :D
