A few months back, I featured the Sakura WordPress theme and many of you liked it especially the ladies. Well here’s a treat for you. The guys over at area381 has finally come up with an update, a 3 column version of Sakura.

This new version of Sakura now has 2 sidebars and is still widget ready so you can put more widgets to heart’s content. Sakura 3 columns theme has also been tested in all major browsers namely IE 6 and 7, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Flock users don’t have to worry coz if it works with Firefox, I’m sure it’ll also work with Flock.

My Take:

I liked the previous version of Sakura and like this even better because of the additional sidebar. It gives the user more space to display their stuff and not cramp it all on one sidebar. One thing that I think the authors of this theme should add is navigation menu which can be placed on the header right below the blog title and description. I think adding that would make it more user-friendly and give easy access for visitors. Maybe we’ll see that in a later version of Sakura. Like it’s predecessor, I give the Sakura 3 columns a 4.5 out of 5.

Oh yeah, another thing. I think it would also be nice to see this theme in a different color scheme. What do you guys think?

Rainbow Feather is a fluid one-column wordpress theme. As the name suggests the colours in this theme are rainbow-ish. From Blue, baby blue, to yellow, orange, white, blue gradient and pink, barbie pink to evil pink. Cool features include: Fancy web2.0 like headings (wet graphics), custom badges “read on” and “continue reading”, matching color scheme/palette, Login area that shows logged in users (well it shows you and gives you options). This is only visible though if you have new user registration on. Also, a cool RSS-Feed graphic.

The author only indicates one column but actually it has a sidebar that is located on the left of the page and also has a bottom bar that you can use to display links, archives or any data that you want to show. Rainbow Feather has a fluid width so you won’t have to worry about screen resolutions.

Btw, I tested the Rainbow Feather on Mozilla Firefox, Flock, Opera and Internet Explorer 7 and it works just fine.

My Take:
I know you’ll agree with me that Rainbow Feather is easily one of the best designed WordPress themes around. The design, custom graphics and gradients make it smooth and soothing to the eye. Some may not like the colors used but if you have some Photoshop skills, you can easily change that and customize it. This theme is widget-ready for all you widget lovers out there.

The author has previously released other WordPress themes, but IMO Rainbow Feather is his best work so far. I give the Rainbow Feather a 4.5 out of 5.

Basic features of this theme include a fixed width, a post date icon, a bottom bar and a sliding sidebar made possible by a third-party javascript. Dezinerfolio 2.0 is tested to be compatible with WordPress 2.2 and supports the following plugins:

My Take:
I like the Dezinerfolio 2.0 WordPress theme because of it’s good design, sliding sidebar and custom graphics for post date, comments, avatars and the curled up page corner. The javascript powered sliding sidebar can be an issue for some users but it can be easily turned off or disabled by deleting the .js file.

Although this theme won’t work straight out of the box because of the required plugins, it’s not a problem because the author includes all the necessary plugins with the download. All you need to do if you aren’t using the plugin yet is to upload and activate. IMO, this can be an issue for some users and make them back away from this theme.

Overall, I give the Dezinerfolio 2.0 a 3.5 out of 5.
