WooThemes, one of the well-known sources for premium WordPress themes just recently released a brand new product called WooDojo. This product is a WordPress plugin that works as a “functionality suite” that adds additional functionalities to any WordPress theme on any WordPress installation.

WooDojo features:

WooDojo is an awesome plugin because not only does it add functionalities to any existing WordPress theme but it also eliminates the need for using separate/multiple plugins for those functionalities. The features listed above are only the ones available for version 1 of the plugin but WooThemes ninjas are already working on new features that will be made available in the coming weeks.

I’ve already downloaded a copy of WooDojo but yet have to try it but I’m sure it’s gonna be a very useful tool for any WordPress user. The timing of the release of WooDojo is just right because I’m planning on doing a theme reboot and I hope to be able to use and integrate this plugin into my WordPress installation.

WordPress.com announced the availability of premium themes for their users last month. The initial release only featured two premium themes – the Headlines theme by WooThemes and the Shelf theme from Theme Foundry. Last week, WordPress.com added more choices by adding three more premium themes – the Pretty Young Thing theme by StudioPress, Crisp theme by WooThemes and Traction theme by the Theme Foundry.

Pretty Young Thing Theme ($75)

A 2 or 3 column, widget-ready, youthful and delicate looking theme with a light, pastel color palette. It’s powered by the Genesis framework that allows you to easily configure/customize widgets, custom header, color scheme and custom background.

It took me about a few minutes before I saw the WooNinja hiding in the picture. Have you seen it yet? Anyways, I think there are more WordPress community members that could’ve been added to the picture like WP Tavern, Theme Lab, WP Recipes, etc. but maybe WooThemes didn’t have enough space for everybody. Maybe we’ll see a second version of this comic that features the other left out WordPress community members? Btw, the design on the DIYthemes building has gathered some mixed reactions. Some look at the building’s design as a cheapshot on DIYthemes, depicting a crumbling building while others see it as a building made up of puzzles or a building that’s under construction which is done in reference with their name DIY (Do-It-Yourself).

A blog theme is one of the most important aspects of any blog. It’s a visual representation of your brand, your content and what makes your blog unique from everybody else. A theme can make or break your blog. Users who purchase premium themes will have full access to the dedicated “premium themes” forum on the WordPress.com forums.

It’s good to see WordPress.com giving their users more options and I’m sure a lot of WordPress.com users would be very happy to hear this. This is just the start so expect to see more premium themes added to the WordPress.com Theme Showcase in the next few weeks or months.
