Readers and visitors have been posting questions on that article asking how to solve the same problem on the 64-bit version of Windows 7, so I decided to publish a separate article specially for those people.

How to fix the Adobe CS3 Internal Error 2739 on Windows 7 64-bit:
1. Click on the Windows logo and type in cmd on Search program and files. (Don’t hit Enter)

2. On the search results, right-click on “cmd.exe” and select “Run as administrator“.

3. A command prompt will open and the default location will be C:\windows\system32.

4. Type in cd.. to get out of the System32 folder.

5. Type in cd SysWOW64 to go inside the SysWOW64* folder.

6. Type in regsvr32 jscript.dll and hit Enter.

7. Type in regsvr32 vbscript.dll and hit Enter.

In the olden days, you nearly always got a separate copy of the operating system which was installed on a newly purchased computer. For example, if you purchased a computer with Windows XP installed on it, you would also get a Windows XP CD included in the package. Unfortunately, this is not always the case nowadays. Frequently, when you buy a computer from a company like Dell or HP no operating system CD’s are included. Rather, they sometimes create a restore partition on your computer or give you the ability to burn your own recovery disk.

Now most people will ask the obvious question: why would I ever need a Windows Installation or Recovery Disk? After all, I’m never going to be changing my operating system!

The Role of the Windows Recovery Disk

A Windows Recovery Disk is important because of its ability to help fix a computer which has run into problems. Without it, you will have a much more difficult time, for instance, with a PC which refuses to boot up Windows. Here is a little summary of what a recovery disk can and can not do.

What does a Windows Recovery Disk let you do?

• Repair a computer which won’t start up
• Allow you to restore your computer to a given restore point
• Allow you to restore an image of your machine
• Perform a memory (RAM – random access memory) analysis

What does a Windows Recovery Disk not do?

• Allow you to install a fresh copy of Windows.

Create your own Windows Recovery Disk
Assuming your computer has run into problems and you don’t have an installation CD or a recovery CD, how would you create one?

1) Log onto a working computer. If your computer is not working, use your friends or, perhaps, a library machine.
2) Grab a blank rewritable CD or DVD.
3) Head over here, scroll down a bit, and click on the recovery disk link. Most of you will want to choose the top option: Windows 7 Recovery Disc 32-Bit (x86) Edition. If you are unable to download the file it means that you don’t have a torrent program on your computer. If so, go and download BitTorrent and try again.

4) The file you have downloaded is an ISO file and must be burnt to a CD or DVD. If you are using Windows 7, this can be done within the operating system. If not, check out this list of FREE CD/DVD Software for Windows and select a program of your choice.
5) You now have a working recovery disk. If you need to make use of it simply place it in your CD tray, restart your computer, and boot from your CD (as opposed to your hard drive).

Conclusion

If you are ever having problems with your computer (in particular, if it won’t start up) then I highly recommend that you download and burn the Windows Recovery Disk. It is quite easy to use and can solve many basic Windows problems.

Initially made available to MSDN and TechNet subscribers last week, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 is now available to the public. The Windows 7 Service Pack 1 includes some minor updates and client-side support for RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory for Windows 7 VMs. It also includes some updates that were already made available via Windows Update.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an important update that includes previously released security, performance, and stability updates for Windows 7. SP1 also includes new improvements to features and services in Windows 7, such as improved reliability when connecting to HDMI audio devices, printing using the XPS Viewer, and restoring previous folders in Windows Explorer after restarting.

Most of the updates included in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 aren’t new as they have been previously released via Windows Updates. Windows 7 SP1 is ideal or recommended for users who have lost the previously installed security updates and want to keep their machines secure and updated.

NOTE: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 can’t be installed if your copy of Windows isn’t genuine. Before installing it, make sure to check the system requirements and installation instructions to make sure that your machine is ready for the update. Also make sure to remove any previous installations of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 pre-release/beta versions. The download file will be in ISO format so you’ll need a blank DVD.

Anyways, when I tried to download and install the available updates for Ubuntu, I got this error message:

Requires installation of untrusted packages – “The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources.”

I’ve installed Ubuntu lots of times before and this was the first time that I encountered this issue/error. I Googled the error message and found the very short and very simple solution from the Ubuntu forums. I’m sharing this in case someone might encounter the same problem and get the “requires installation of untrusted packages” error while updating Ubuntu.

Here’s how to do it:
1. On your Ubuntu panel, click on System > Administration > Update Manager.

2. Look for Settings at the bottom left corner of the Update Manager window, click on it.

3. On the Software Sources window, click on the Ubuntu Software tab.
4. Under Downloadable from the Internet, put a check on Source Code.

5. Close the window and the changes will be applied.
6. On Update Manager, click on Install Updates.

That should do it and you should now be able to download and install the available updates for your system. In my case, the Source Code option was not ticked/checked. After I put a check on it and clicked on Install Updates, the “requires installation of untrusted packages” error went away.
