href="http://www.problogger.net/archives/2008/01/02/bidvertiser-add-rss-advertising/">Bidvertiser added RSS advertising into their lineup of services and gave Bidvertiser publishers and advertisers another monetizing option. With the success of this new ad avenue, Bidvertiser announced today that they have added a WordPress plugin and FeedBurner solution that will help bloggers keep their current feed address if they choose to run Bidvertiser ads on their feeds.

WordPress Plugin to allow you to seamlessly embed the BidVertiser Ads in your feeds.

Solution for FeedBurner that allows you to embed the BidVertiser Ads in your current FeedBurner address

Solution for Blogger that allows you to embed the BidVertiser Ads in the footer of each of your post feeds.

Worried that your FeedBurner subscriber count would be affected? Don’t be because solution #2 will keep your subscriber count in tact. If you have registered your feed and would like to add any one of these features, you can access them via the Bidvertiser control panel under the Get Feed Widget button.

Right now, I prefer not to use RSS advertising here on JaypeeOnline because I want my subscribers to have clean access to my posts with no distractions or advertisements that could bother them. RSS advertising is another option for bloggers who look to monetize their blogs and maximize all opportunities. I’m sure many bloggers will benefit from this service.

For the readers, are you distracted or bothered by ads on RSS feeds? For bloggers, would you consider using RSS advertising? Why or why not?
<div

Last time I checked, my Feedburner chicklet showed that I had 174 readers. This morning, it showed only 109.

What happened? I had no idea. It’s normal for the number of my RSS subscribers to drop 10 readers at a time but for it to lose 65 readers overnight was weird. Since I don’t know what the reason was, I couldn’t do anything about so I thought to myself that I’d just wait until tomorrow and see what happens.

Later that afternoon, I got John Chow’s RSS feed via email and saw the title of his latest post – “How I Lost 4,993 RSS Subscribers Overnight“. I immediately knew that what ever reason he had for losing that much subscribers was the same reason I lost mine. From John’s post, I found out that the culprit was Google’s Feedfetcher and that it wasn’t showing the number of RSS subccribers using Google Reader. Btw, I’m sure John is happy that this didn’t happen during the RSS competition vs Shoemoney. Hehe

Though John Chow showed proof that the culprit was Google Feedfetcher, I still wasn’t sure and I wanted to confirm it so I decided to pay the Feedburner blog a visit and saw this Saturday Subscriber Count Drop?

If you saw your subscriber count drop precipitously in your Saturday, November 3rd summary from FeedBurner, the reason is that specific subscriber stats from Google Feedfetcher were offline because this service was apparently out late with friends on Friday night, and well, it completely slept through Saturday. It appears to have rallied, however, and amid firm declarations of “I’m never doing that again”, Feedfetcher has started diligently reporting subscriber numbers to us, early this morning Pacific Time. FeedBurner publishers’ subscriber counts should be closer to what you’d normally expect starting with reports that will be available on Monday morning.

There ya go! That explains everything. Good to know that it’s just temporary and that things should be back to normal on Monday morning.

Anyone else got worried by the sudden drop of RSS subscribers n the Feedburner chicklet? What percentage of your total RSS subscribers use Google Reader? How about you, do you use Google Reader? Share your thoughts!

BlogRush, a recently launched blog syndication network.

What is BlogRush?

BlogRush is a “Cooperative Syndication Network” that rewards its users for their contributions to the network — from the impressions they provide of the BlogRush Widget to the referral of other users through 10 ‘generations’ of activity and the impressions of the widget that they provide. BlogRush was designed to be incredibly viral and to provide its users with tremendous distribution leverage to receive exposure for their blog content (onto related content blogs) that they could never achieve on their own; at least without a massive advertising budget.

How does it work?

BlogRush users earn “syndication credits” (the right to have their blog post titles shown inside a widget on another related blog) based on their own traffic (loads of the widget) as well as the traffic of other users they refer to BlogRush. Users can automatically refer others to BlogRush via special links on the widget, as well as through the promotion of a special referral URL they are given.

To make it short and simple, BlogRush helps bloggers get more traffic and readers for their blogs for FREE! It’s like a multi-level marketing scheme for bloggers. The more traffic your blog has + the more people you refer to BlogRush = more traffic and readers you get for your blog. Btw, once you sign-up and join, you’ll have to add a piece of code to display the BlogRush widget. You can see it in action on my sidebar.

It sounds really promising and the idea of getting more traffic and readers is too much to resist so I’m gonna try it out and see if it works. Why don’t you give it a try yourself. It’s totally free so you have nothing to lose. If you’ve already joined Blogrush, I’d love to hear your opinion. Does it work for you or not?

Join the <a
