Wasn’t expecting any packages or mail to arrive anytime soon so I was surprised when the DHL delivery guy came knocking at the door early this morning. Found out the package was for me so I accepted it and signed it. I checked who the package was from and saw that it was from WOMWorld/Nokia. It was weird because I didn’t request for any review units from them, so I really had no idea what was inside the package.

So I open the package and inside was a bag, a tshirt, several 3D glasses and an ID badge. What I got was a virtual event pack for the upcoming Nokia World 2010 event scheduled for September 14-15 in London, UK. So yeah, I’m attending Nokia World 2010 not in London but virtually, that is. Hehe

I was wondering what the 3D glasses were for until I read the message behind one of the badges:

I haven’t received the email yet but will probably receive it in a few hours because the event is only 9 hours away. I still don’t know what those 3D glasses are specifically for but it looks like Nokia is gonna reveal something big tomorrow at Nokia World 2010 that has something to do with 3D. Maybe the first 3D enabled smartphone or mobile device? My guess is only good as yours so we’ll just have to wait and see. Btw, aside from Nokia World 2010, the Nokia Developer Summit 2010 will also be held at the same time and place at the ICC London ExCeL.

Nokia World 09 started today at Stuttgart, Germany and while most of us were expecting more details about the recently revealed Nokia Booklet 3G and Nokia N900 mobile devices nobody didn’t expect the Finnish mobile giant to release another set of awesome mobile devices namely the X3 and X6 models.

Pioneering new ways for the world to experience music, Nokia today announced the launch of the new Nokia X6. Capable of playing up to 35 hours of music, the Nokia X6 is a powerful entertainment device, combining 32GB of on-board memory with a slick 3.2″ finger touch interface.

The ultimate device for music lovers and social butterflies, the Nokia X6 has a 16:9 widescreen optimised for photos, videos and browsing. With direct access to Ovi Store, the Nokia X6 is a hive of activity that brings 20 friends and virtual communities, like Facebook, to your homescreen.

Jo Harlow, Vice President, Nokia, commented: “The Nokia X6 and Comes With Music is a powerful combination, enabling music fans to download all the music they could ever want – quickly, easily and for free. We’re giving people convenient access to and ownership of a vast music library and an exciting new touchscreen device to play their music on.”

The new Nokia X3 also joins Nokia’s music portfolio. The Nokia X3 is designed for music lovers and is the first Series 40 Ovi Store-enabled device. The Nokia X3 is a sleek and compact music device that comes with stereo speakers, built-in FM radio, and a 3.2 megapixel camera.

To make the most of the entertainment experience, Nokia introduced the Nokia Mini Speaker MD-9, a pocket-size speaker for big sound, and the Nokia Bluetooth Stereo Headset BH-505, an ergonomic and lightweight neckband headset for great music and call audio quality also in noisy environments.

The Nokia X6 has an estimated retail price of EUR 450, with the Nokia X3 retailing for an estimated EUR 115. Prices are before taxes and subsidies, and both devices will ship during the fourth quarter of 2009.

The Nokia X6 boasts a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, 32GB internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, a dual LED flash, TV-out, 35 hour music playback and will sell for $652 US or 459 Euros. It also comes with Symbian S60 5.0 OS and A-GPS (Ovi Maps). Meanwhile, the Nokia X3 will have a 2.2-inch non-touchscreen, a slide-out keyboard, Series 40 OS, a 3.2 megapixel camera, built-in FM radio and will retail for about $163 US or roughly 115 Euros. Both handsets will start shipping in the 4th quarter of this year.

Based on the specifications, the Nokia X6 can be considered as a successor of the Nokia 5800, a music-oriented mobile phone. The Nokia X6 and X3 handsets are not only music-oriented phones but are also social-network friendly especially with Facebook. With its new feature called Lifecasting with Ovi, you can send messages, publish your location and status updates directly to Facebook from your Nokia X6 or X3 phone.

Nokia announced earlier today the release of the Nokia N97 during the Nokia World ’08 event at Barcelona, Spain. This feature-rich handset is dubbed by some as the “Facebook Phone” mainly because this device is geared towards users who are into social networking and multimedia. But based on the specs, this “handheld computer” device can also cater to the power/business user.

It has almost all of the features that I’d love to have on one phone – 3G, WiFi, touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, 32 GB memory (expansion slot for a 16 GB microSD card) and 36 hours of playback time (something that my AT&T tilt is lacking at). Aside from the 3.5″ touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard and other features listed above, one thing I like about this phone is the “tilting” display which is similar to my current phone, the AT&T Tilt aka HTC TyTN II. This feature makes sending text messages and emails easier and makes the device more comfortable to use.

Although some people might think of it as an iPhone killer type of phone, the Nokia N97 is a totally different phone and has its own unique features that the iPhone doesn’t have. According to reports, the Nokia N97 will be available in Europe by mid next year with an estimated retail price of €550. No word yet if it will be released in North America or in the US but hopefully Nokia would release it here even by the end next year. I’m sure Nokia fans here in the US won’t mind waiting.
