Although the hacks were low-level, there’s a possibility that all or any of the information kept on those servers could’ve been revealed. Matt Mullenweg has this to [...]

Matt Mullenweg: State of the Word 2010

One of the blogging events that I really wish to attend is WordCamp San Francisco. Although I’ve already been to one WordCamp, WordCamp Las Vegas, it isn’t the same as attending a WordCamp SF. It is bigger. It is the mothership of all WordCamps and is produced under the direction of Mr. WordPress himself – [...]

WordPress Blogs Under Attack

Yesterday, while I was checking on my WP Dashboard, I came across Lorelle’s post that warned WordPress users about old WordPress versions being attacked. From that post, I learned that there are reports of attacks on older versions of WordPress and that the number of sites being hit was increasing by the hour. When I [...]

WordCamp is a conference type of event that focuses squarely on everything WordPress. Everyone from casual end users all the way up to core developers show up to these events. These events are usually highlighted by speeches or keynotes by various people. WordCamp is a spin off from the popular BarCamp which was a spin off of FooCamp. - Weblog Tools Collection WordCamp Philippines will be the first ever WordCamp organized and held in Asia. WordCamp Philippines is being organized by a group of Filipino bloggers based in Mindanao who were also responsible for organizing the successful 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit held last year. What are the objectives of WordCamp Philippines? ...to encourage more developers to use and deploy WordPress, not only as a blogging engine but also as a full-featured content management system for Web sites. WordPress 2.5 RC 2 + Screencast

It seems that the long wait for WordPress 2.5 is still not yet over. Inspite of the delay, WordPress users should be happy to know about the new features that it will include once it gets released. For now, you can try it out for yourself if you download the WordPress 2.5 Release Candidate 2 which was released earlier today. Below is a screencast made by Matt Mullenweg, showing off the new dashboard and image uploader in WordPress 2.5. I admit that the first time I saw photos of WordPress 2.5's dashboard I wasn't that impressed. I was expecting it to be more "pretty". However, after installing RC1 on my sandbox and seeing this screencast, I'm actually starting to like it. I like the way the content are displayed in the dashboard's main page because it looks cleaner, more organized and easier to access. If you watched the screencast you would've seen that with WordPress 2.5, you can edit the Incoming Links and choose between Technorati or Google Blog Search. You can also make the WYSIWYG editor into full screen mode which is handy when you're composing a long post and/or if your computer has a small screen (Asus Eee PC). The new image uploader is really cool! Although I don't use it in my blog, I'm sure many WordPress users can't wait to get their hands on it and would find it very useful.
