Twitter Trends 2010: Top Tweets of the Year

Earlier today, Twitter released its Top 10 Twitter Trends of 2010. In order to identify the top trends of the year, the Twitter team analyzed a staggering 25 billion Tweets – the total number of Tweets sent this year. Additional data was taken from the top categories: News Events, People, Movies, Television, Technology, World Cup, Sports and Hashtags. Each trend that made it to the Top 10 list is not determined by a keyword(s) but includes multiple related terms, in order to show a more accurate view of the most popular topics that users talked about in 2010.

These Trends indicate the things that are most meaningful in our lives. Each day on Twitter, people tweet about news, sports, entertainment and cool new technology–and everything else in between. The list of 2010 Twitter Trends reflects what’s happening in our world, demonstrates the power of turning any event or story into a shared experience, and underscores Twitter’s value as a real-time information network.

Just like in Yahoo’s Top 10 Searches for 2010, the BP Gulf Oil Spill is the most popular topic/trend in Twitter’s Top 10 Twitter Trends for 2010. It’s surprising to see Inception take the #3 spot and be ahead of the Haiti Earthquake, the Apple iPad or even Justin Bieber. Its also interesting to see Pulpo Paul aka Paul the Octopus making it to the Top 10.

Btw, I’ll also be publishing the Google Zeitgeist 2010 later today which features the top searches according to Google Search.

So far my weekend’s been great. How about you guys? Hope you’re also enjoying the weekend like me. Some of the scheduled activities got canceled so this weekend wasn’t so busy. I also won’t be playing basketball today coz my fingers still hurt. For those of you who don’t know, I injured my right middle and ring fingers while playing basketball last Sunday. So last week, I was practically blogging with my “injured” fingers..hehe it was difficult and quite painful at times, but I was able to work and perform other daily chores, including blogging. Dell Adamo – Sexy, But Overpriced

Dell created a hype a few months back when news came out that they were coming up with a computer that would rival the Macbook Air. Back then, all we knew about it was that it was gonna be called the Dell Adamo. No photos or specifications, just a website.

We first saw a glimpse of the Adamo when Dell unveiled it at the 2009 CES in Las Vegas early this year and then a couple days back we saw more photos of it in display at the recent SXSW 2009. A few hours later the retail price and photos of Dell Adamo were leaked, Dell ended the hype when they officially released the Dell Adamo.

The Dell Adamo comes in two colors – Onyx and Pearl and starts at $1,999 for the basic configuration. Specs below:

The Dell Adamo is a thing of beauty. Weighing only 4 lbs, it weighs a pound more than the Macbook Air, has a slightly bigger screen at 13.4 inches and measures only .65 inches in height which makes it a very slim notebook. I especially like the design on the Pearl edition. Unfortunately, the only thing impressive about the Dell Adamo is its design and falls short when it comes to other important features like the processor and graphics card. Like the Macbook Air, the Dell Adamo doesn’t have a built-in optical drive so you’ll have to purchase an external DVD-RW.

Like my initial impression, all I can say is that the Dell Adamo is sexy, but overpriced. If Dell wanted to compete with the Macbook Air, they should have considered a lower retail price. One of the reasons why many users prefer Windows-powered machines over Macs is because they’re cheaper. The good looks and design just doesn’t justify the hefty price tag. Good design doesn’t have to be expensive, right?

The Adamo by Dell is now available for pre-order online and can be bought online from the following countries: U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, U.K. France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, ANZ, China, Honk Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia/Singapore, Japan, and Indonesia.
