href="http://jaypeeonline.net/gadgets/toshiba-satellite-a305-s6872/">Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872 was still running fine but it was already slowing down and started to show signs of “old age” like failing to boot up at times, so I decided not to wait until it died on me and get a new one. At first, I was planning on getting another Toshiba laptop but after scanning the different models they had on Best Buy, Newegg, Amazon and other stores I couldn’t find what I was looking for specs-wise.

A few days before Black Friday, I saw an <a
href="ASUS N61JQ-XV1ASUS N61JQ-XV1 on sale on Amazon for only $869 and planned on buying it. While browsing for other laptop models, I came across the <a
href="Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 064654ULenovo IdeaPad Y560 (0646-54U) which was also on sale on Amazon for $899. Both laptops had almost the same specifications – 1.73 GHz Intel Core i7-740QM Quad-Core Processor, 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 graphics, 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium, etc. The only difference between them was that the Asus model was 16″ and had a 7200rpm HDD, while the Lenovo one only had 15.6″ and 5400rpm HDD. I decided to go with the Asus laptop not only because it was a bit cheaper but also also because it had a slightly bigger screen and a faster HDD. But just as I was about to purchase it, something inside of me kept me from doing it. So I decided to go online and read more reviews about both laptops and I ended up finding a $530 Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 coupon.

At first, I wasn’t sure if that coupon would work so I had to try it out myself. I went to Lenovo’s direct store, tried it and to my delight, it worked! When the coupon worked, I didn’t waste any time and immediately bought the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 (0646-5GU). The original retail price was $1,399 but because of the $530 coupon, the price went down to $869. Not only that, it also had FREE shipping and I received the laptop within 5 days.

Tech Specs:

Intel Core i7-740QM Processor ( 1.73GHz 1333MHz 6MB )

1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730

6 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz

500GB 7200rpm HDD

15.6″ HD LED Glare 1366×768

Windows 7 Home Premium 64

DVD Recordable (Dual Layer)

3 USB 3.0 ports

6-in-1 card reader (MultiMedia Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Secure Digital Card, Secure Digital High Capacity Card, xD-Picture Card)

6 Cell Lithium-Ion

Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 1000

Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR

Premium JBL stereo speakers

Product Photos:

I was really fortunate to find that $530 coupon and was able to use it just a few days before it expired. With the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 (0646-5GU), I was able to get a fast processor – 1.73 GHz Intel Core i7-740QM Quad-Core Processor, a good graphics card – 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, a fast hard drive – 500GB 7200rpm HDD and an upgraded memory – 6GB RAM all for the same amount that I would’ve paid if I purchased the Asus laptop I found on Amazon. Had I decided to get that and wanted to upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 6GB, that would’ve cost me an additional $50 at least.

I’ve only had the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 (0646-5GU) for about two weeks now, but haven’t had any problems with it so far. I’ve already installed all the necessary programs, transferred all my files and last but not least, set it up to dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu. The only thing that I don’t like about it is that the built is not as strong as I wanted it to be or expected it to be but nevertheless, I’m still very happy with it and it has performed very well according to its specifications. I’ll post a more detailed review of it soon so if you’re interested, watch out for it.
<div

I know the folks in the Philippines are enjoying a long weekend as Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) which is a national holiday celebrated every 9th of April was moved to Monday, April 6th. My weekend was okay although we weren’t able to go to church because my son didn’t feel well and vomited in the car so we ended up going home. Saturday night, I got to spend time with family and meet my aunt, uncle and cousin who came from Germany. Sunday, we had to drive to Los Angeles to see our lawyer thats why I wasn’t able to publish this post earlier. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy this edition of the Weekend Roundup!

Blogging

<a
