Do you accept guest posts on your blog? Having guest authors is a good way to keep a steady flow of fresh content on your blog and at the same time allows you to spend time on other projects and other important stuff. I accept guest posts here on JaypeeOnline, so aside from reviewing guest articles, I also have to create individual user accounts (Contributor level) for each guest author – both tedious and time consuming tasks.

Thanks to a new WordPress plugin called the WordPress Guest Post plugin, bloggers like me can now easily and quickly accept guest posts without having to login to my WordPress dashboard. The WordPress Guest Post plugin allows contributors to submit articles via a WordPress page, no user registration required. Blog owners or administrators receive customized online or email notifications when guest articles are submitted and they could easily review, edit, approve and publish the articles via the WordPress dashboard.

Installation:

Upload the unzipped WordPress Guest Post files to the wp-content/plugins directory.
Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
Go to the Settings page and customize your settings (Optional).

To access the list of unapproved guest posts, click on the “Guest Post” section on your WordPress dashboard. To edit a specific post, you’ll have to approve it. The post will not go live until you hit the Publish button.

The WordPress Guest Post plugin is still in BETA so the author offers no guarantees and use it at your own risk. As a safety precaution, make sure to back up all your WordPress files and database before installing this plugin or any new plugins.

5 Ways to Grow Your Blog Fast

When it comes to making your blog grow in order to gain popularity and increase the potential to make money online, the most important aspect that you have to focus on is traffic. Traffic is everything for your blog or website and without it all you have is content that nobody sees.

If you want to grow your blog fast and increase the amount of traffic that you see on a daily basis, then there are a number of strategies that you should keep in mind.

1. Great Content

One important aspect that you must focus on when attempting to grow your blog fast and gain popularity is your content. High quality and original content, not just ordinary recycled content that can be found anywhere on the internet, is the key to attracting visitors on a regular basis. When you provide valuable information that your visitors truly enjoy, then they will want to come back for more. Chances are they will also tell others about your blog which will spark a fury of referrals that will eventually lead to huge amounts of traffic.

2. Link Out to Authority Figures

Linking out to authority figures is a good way to gain trust from your visitors because it shows that you are willing to reach out to other well known sources in order to reinforce the content that you are providing on your own blog. Not only will visitors place more trust in you when you do so, but search engines might also place more trust in you as well. Both cases will help to increase the amount of traffic that your blog gets.

3. Guest Posting

Guest posting is another way to help increase the popularity of your own blog because it gives you an opportunity to express to others how knowledgeable you are in particular areas of interest. If you’re able to provide valuable information on numerous topics, then there is a good chance that those who view your guest posts will want to learn more about what you have to say in your own blog. In many cases you will be allowed to provide your own personal link in your guest post which you can use to direct potential viewers back to your blog.

4. Commenting

Commenting is also a popular tactic that can be used to draw visitors to your blog. Much like guest posting, commenting can be used to voice your opinion and provide feedback on particular matters that you are knowledgeable in. When you give people the answers or advice that they are looking for, they may be likely to come to you for more answers or advice later on. When this happens, you can give them what they need by creating great content for your blog.

5. Networking

Networking is an increasingly popular strategy that can be used to grow your blog fast, and there are a number of ways that networking can be done. The recent surge in popularity of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace has greatly improved the networking opportunities that any blog or website owner has. Networks much like those found on popular social networking sites are commonly formed by those with similar interests regarding just about every aspect of life including work, family, religion, recreation, hobbies, and much more. If you become part of a network or many networks and contribute to them on a regular basis, then you can increase the potential of attracting traffic to your blog.

Now Open to Guest Bloggers

Even though I already have two guest blog posts done by my online friends back in 2009, this blog wasn’t “officially” open to guest bloggers. I planned to do it back in 2010 as part of my blogging goals and even had the Guest Post Guidelines page ready but due to some circumstances, I decided to put it on hold. Finally, after a year of planning and thinking it over – JaypeeOnline is now officially open for guest posting.

Why am I doing this? I’m doing this for a number of reasons. First, to help other bloggers get more exposure (traffic, readers, etc.). Second, guest blogger’s articles will provide readers new content written with a different perspective or style of writing. Third, having guest bloggers will enable me to have some extra time to work on my other projects which I plan to finish this year. If there’s extra time I might be able to also do some guest blogging on other blogs myself.

Weekend Roundup #74

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was okay. It wasn’t that busy and it wasn’t boring as well. Had a few parts in the church program and had a church building committee meeting so I had to stay a while at church til late afternoon. Today, Sunday was spent mostly at home with my family. Watched the Lakers vs Magic game and was disappointed that the Lakers lost by 2 pts. It’s all good though, I believe they can still win this year’s championship. They just have to work harder and get/find their groove back. Also watched the 82nd Annual Academy Awards or the 2010 Oscar Awards on TV. Was expecting Avatar to win most of the awards but surprisingly, The Hurt Locker came out winning 6 Oscars out of the 9 nominations it got, including the most coveted one – Best Picture.
