New Google Adsense Interface

Google revealed a new Adsense interface known as Version 3 in November of last year and since its announcement, the new interface was kept in closed beta testing to a few Adsense publishers. I wasn’t lucky enough to be selected as one of the beta testers so the only time I’ve seen the new user interface was through screenshots posted on blogs by other beta testers.

When I logged in to my Adsense account this morning, instead of the usual page I was greeted by a page that asked me to try out the new Adsense interface. I didn’t hesitate and clicked on the “Try the new Adsense” button. After a year of waiting, I finally got to try and see the new Adsense interface aka Version 3 for myself.

I really like the new Ajaxified Adsense user interface and I think that it’s much better than the previous one. Aside from the cleaner design/layout, the new interface offers a much more detailed view of earning reports, more control over ads and advertisers and best of all, it’s user-friendly.

Anyone else tried the new Google Adsense user interface? Do you prefer the old or the new interface? What other features or options should Google add to the new user interface? Please share your thoughts.

Weekend Roundup #79

Wassup guys? How are you all doing? Hope you all had a good weekend. Had a pretty good weekend filled with activities and stuff. Everything went well except for a little problem that we had with our car tires. We just changed the tires last Friday and while driving on the freeway on the way home from church last Saturday, we felt the tires wobble. That was kinda scary considering the speeds we’re driving at in the freeway. We tried to have it fixed but the shop was already closed so I had to go back early morning Sunday to do it. The tires were rebalanced and re-torqued and after that, the problem was fixed and the tires worked properly. We’re glad that the tires didn’t give way or flew off our vehicle while we were on the freeway and that we were able to get home safely.

Yahoo Publisher Network Closes, Refers Customers to Chitika

As a Chitika Publisher, I receive the Chitika newsletter on a regular basis. I was surprised when I opened the latest issue of the newsletter earlier today. It read “Chitika Welcomes Yahoo! YPNO Publishers“. Reading further, I found out that Google Adsense’s counterpart, Yahoo! Publisher Network Online will be shut down at the end of next month, April 30th, 2010. Aside from that, I also found out that Yahoo was referring its publishers and customers to Chitika.

Here’s the complete email that YPNO publishers received from Yahoo!:

Dear Publisher,
Yahoo! continuously evaluates and prioritizes our products and services, in alignment with business goals and our continued commitment to deliver the best consumer and advertiser experiences. After conducting an extensive review of the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta program, we have decided to close the program effective April 30, 2010. We expect to deliver final publisher payments for the month ending April 30, 2010 to publishers no later than May 31, 2010. All publishers eligible for 1099s for the 2010 tax year will have those mailed by January 31, 2011.
Because our content will no longer be delivered to your ad unit spaces after April 30, 2010, we recommend removing all YPN ad code from your pages by that date.
For the opportunity to continue earning revenue, we suggest using Chitika, a leading advertising network that syndicates Yahoo! Content Match and Sponsored Search ads. Chitika has set up a special process for YPNO beta publishers to participate in its platform. Click here for more information.

Chitika has created a special section for current YPNO or Yahoo! Publisher Network Online customers to make the transition easier and provide them the information they need to get started on Chitika. Here’s how the page looks like:

This special section provides YPNO publishers and customers screenshots, testimonials and FAQs that they’ll need would they decide or choose to move to Chitika.

This is good news for Google because this means one less competition for Adsense and its better news for Chitika because YPNO has thousands of publishers and once they move to Chitika, it will make Chitika a bigger advertising network making it attractive to more and bigger advertisers.

Regarding my experience with Chitika. I’ve only been with them for 5 months now but I can tell you without hesitation that the results have been very satisfactory. It is not obtrusive and works very well alongside Google Adsense which is my main revenue source. Actually, I’ve earned more with Chitika in my first few months with them than what I’ve earned in my first year with Adsense. In fact, I already received my fourth check from them earlier today. The only regret I have is not joining Chitika earlier.

If you still haven’t joined or don’t have a Chitika account, I strongly recommend that you try them out. There’s no harm in adding another revenue source to your blog and you definitely have nothing to lose. It works well with Google Adsense and the ads are not obtrusive. Join Chitika now!

$100 Google Adwords Coupon

I’ve been a Google Adsense user since June of 2005 and I’ve also registered and tried out their Affiliate program but I’ve never tried Google Adwords even though I already have an account there. I wanted to try it out before but decided not to because I didn’t want to ~~waste~~ spend my money on something that I wasn’t sure of. Well I had a pleasant surprise a couple months back when I received an email from Google for a free $100 Adwords Coupon. It was sent to me as a Google Analytics user. Below is an excerpt of the I received:

Unfortunately, I was very busy at that time that I totally forgot about it and wasn’t able to use it. I only remembered about it when I received a letter from Google via snail mail last week. Guess what it was? Another free $100 Adwords Coupon, but this time it was credited to my Adsense publisher account. Below is a photo of the letter containing the Adwords coupon.

Since this is my first time to try Google Adwords, I’m still not sure how I’m gonna use it. I don’t wanna miss the chance to get the $100 credit which will expire at the end of this month so I still have a few more days to think about it and decide how I’m gonna use it. If any of you guys have some experience or tips that you can share on how to use Adwords, I’d greatly appreciate it.
