Now for the Nook Color/Tablet and Kindle Fire, too!

We’re happy to announce that WordPress for Android is now available for the Nook Color/Tablet and Kindle Fire. The 7″ screen on these tablets make an excellent home for the all-new Dashboard UI that we added in WordPress for Android 2.0.

We paid special attention to the post editor on theses devices, enhancing the layout to make it super simple to edit your post content in either landscape or portrait orientation. You’ll find everything there that you’d want in a WordPress app, including support for editing post content, adding media, viewing your stats, comment notifications, and more.

I’ve been using WordPress on my rooted Nook Color so this isn’t really something new. However, this is good news for Nook Color/Tablet and Kindle Fire owners who haven’t rooted their devices as they can now download the app from the Nook Store or Amazon Appstore and install on their device.

I personally like the design of the UI (user interface) of WordPress for Android better than that of WordPress for iOS especially the main page or dashboard. I also like the ability to access the real dashboard via the Dashboard icon/shortcut, because it lets you access parts of the blog that aren’t available on the app – other settings, themes, plugins, etc.

IMO, the WordPress for Android’s usability and functionality is definitely much better on a tablet than on a smartphone – enhanced layout and bigger screen makes it easier to create, view and edit posts and navigate through sections. I think its safe to say that the same is true for the WordPress for iOS app which is easier to use and works better on the iPad than on the iPhone unless you only use the app for moderating comments.

WordPress for Android is now available from the Amazon Appstore and Nook Store.

For those who want to rent movies, all you need to do is download a separate Videos app via the Android Market and then from there, you don’t have to worry about download waiting times, syncing or storage space – just login to Android Market using your Google account and you can rent movies from the web, your Android device and start watching movies instantly. Users also have an option to download the movies to their device for later viewing, when there’s no available Internet connection.

Movies and Books are currently only available to U.S. users, who can rent movies starting at $1.99. Same goes for purchasing e-books, which are linked to your Google account and instantly available via any Android-powered device. The new Android Market for smartphones will be made available to other countries soon.

My Nook Color, which I rooted and installed CyanogenMod 7.0.2-encore doesn’t have the new Android Market but rather version 2.3.6 so I haven’t tried this out yet and will wait for the official update to be released. If you can’t wait and would want to get access to the new Android Market, you can get it from Android and Me and Phandroid who are providing download links to the unofficial Android Market APK files. Please keep in mind that these are not official sources/files so download and install at your own risk.

Here’s a demo video of the INFOBAR A01′s user interface:

I immediately fell in love with the INFOBAR A01′s user interface. It closely resembles the Windows Phone 7 interface (design and usability) but this one looks and works much better than that of the Windows version. I’m not sure if the interface is exclusively owned by IIDA or the designer but it would be awesome if it would be made available to other mobile phone brands running on Android. Or maybe someone from the XDA developers forum could cook a custom rom based on this and use it for other Android devices. As an iPhone user, I wish that the next iPhone’s user interface will look something like this.

Aside from the 4 different available colors, there are also some very cool covers (5 colors to choose from) and design jackets (8 designes to choose from) available for the INFOBAR A01.
