WordCamp Philippines

If you’re a Pinoy blogger or a WordPress user/fan then most likely you’ve heard or read of this already. But in case you haven’t, I have good news for you. There will be a WordCamp held in the Philippines this coming September 6, 2008. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here’s a little info.

What is WordCamp?

WordCamp is a conference type of event that focuses squarely on everything WordPress. Everyone from casual end users all the way up to core developers show up to these events. These events are usually highlighted by speeches or keynotes by various people. WordCamp is a spin off from the popular BarCamp which was a spin off of FooCamp. - Weblog Tools Collection

WordCamp Philippines will be the first ever WordCamp organized and held in Asia. WordCamp Philippines is being organized by a group of Filipino bloggers based in Mindanao who were also responsible for organizing the successful 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit held last year.

What are the objectives of WordCamp Philippines?

…to encourage more developers to use and deploy WordPress, not only as a blogging engine but also as a full-featured content management system for Web sites. Another is to increase the number of WordPress users and developers in the country. By developers, we mean programmers of WordPress plugins and designers of themes & templates.

Hi Jaypee. Seeing the round by round results, shouldn’t marquez have won? or was this the results from one judge only?

    Allen’s last blog post..Where is wordpress 2.5?

@Allen - If you’re talking about the scores in this post, no. This is just the opinion of the sportswriter that did the round by round report. Although Pacquiao’s win was unconvincing, I don’t believe Marquez should’ve won and it should’ve been a draw. :)

@jay - You think so? I also watched the fight live and I think it should’ve been a draw. Marquez should’ve been deducted a point because of low blows but the referee didn’t and Pacquiao knocked him down once.

I agree, Marquez earned my respect in that fight. He came prepared and fought well. :)

I think pac won, granted that the rounds won by the fighters are even at 6-6. A draw would be possible if the low blow was scored if the rounds were 7-5 in favor of jmm. The score is 113-113. I also think one of the judges miss-judged. A unanimous decission in favor of pac is also a possibility. I watched the bout live. -email me at junnereyguinid@gmail.com if u understood my comment, i would love to talk bout it a lot. Thanks-

I watched the fight twice and I could not see manny winning. He lost the fight. For those round in which I had a doubt, I gave those rounds to Manny and even with this, he lost the fight. If watch the fight and keep your own score, you will see what I mean.

Manny got two for the knock down, the cut Marquez got in his eye, does not count, Manny did that with his head. Manny got two cut in each eye product of Marquez hard punches….

The point is, Manny lost the fight, he got just because his popularity and some times this blind the judges. IS not the first time a fight is awarded to the wrong fighter based in his popularity. Why Manny did not fight the same way the fought against Morales or Barrera? Just because for each punch he tried to connect to Marquez he was getting two hard punches back.

Manny is the winner because of his knock-down punch at third round that will score at 10-8
