For the simple reason that they are not the same. "Not being the same", does not that one is superior over other, but you can not expect the same output from both genders. You want to repair a car, you would need screw driver and pliers, they are both valuable but you dont expect the pliers to do a screw driver job. AS SIMPLE AS THAT. While it was God's design for men and women to be equal, it was not His design for them to have identical functions and roles, eg., I firmly believe only men can be fathers and only women can be mothers. (2) After sin, God's design of equality became marred. Quite obviously, today's version of equality (or any earthly version for that matter) will never even come close to His design of equality. In fact, dare I suggest that proponents of equality actual do more to harm other foundational aspects of the Christian life, eg., the composition of a family. Just two points:
