Icons play a vital role in the visual aesthetics of any blog, website and web or desktop application. Web designers/developers are not the only ones who look for and need icons. Even bloggers and everyday users use them for their personal sites and blogs. Most of the time, users go to Google when they need to look for icons. Google Image Search is powerful and indexes almost all icons across the Internet but the problem is there are many unrelated images/icons that show up on the results. Also, Google Image Search doesn’t have much options when it comes to filtering results and it becomes a problem when you have hundreds of thousands of results. Same goes for other search engines like Bing.
Most users don’t know that there are search engines that are specifically created to only search for icons, called icon search engines. These sites help you save time and the hassle from using a traditional search engine. Most free icon search engines have filters like – icons per page, background color, icon size, tags, keywords and even image license that narrows down search results and helps users find the right icons faster.
Today, I’ll share with you the best free icon search engines available in the Internet to find free icons.

Based on my experience, FindIcons and Iconfinder are the best among the list because they offer more options and have a larger database compared to the rest. These are just recommendations and it still depends on the user’s preference. Some still prefer to use traditional search engines while others use alternative sites like Deviantart.
Some of the free icon search engines that I’ve previously used are now offline. The ones on the list are the ones that are still up and running. We’ll keep this list updated as often as we can. If you know of any other free icon search engines, please share it with us so we can add it to the list.
Jaypee, okay lang. I got married na! lol. Nagkataon lang siguro na naghahanap ako ng icons tapos nakita ko sa reader ko na may update ka. Napa-comment tuloy ako. hehehe.

@Jhay – FindIcons and IconFinder are the best ones but like you, I also use DeviantArt to find those “rare” gems. Hehe
I use IconFinder the most. Though DeviantArt has some rare gems. :D
