Need a quick and easy way to file your federal and state tax forms? Check out TurboTax’s SnapTax mobile app. TurboTax, one of the most popular income tax preparation software packages in the United States has a mobile application called SnapTax which allows taxpayers to prepare and file income tax returns directly from their iPhone or Android-powered mobile device.
First introduced last year, SnapTax which was previously made available only to California residents is now available nationwide in all 50 states.
SnapTax, the first mobile application that allows people to prepare and file their taxes from start to finish, is now available nationwide for both iPhone and Android from TurboTax® maker Intuit.
Introduced last year in California, SnapTax allows taxpayers with simple returns to snap a photo of their W-2 with their mobile phones and then automatically enters the information into their tax return. Taxpayers answer a few basic questions, review their return for accuracy and tap “File Now” to electronically file their federal and state tax returns in minutes.

The SnapTax mobile app is free to download but TurboTax will charge users $15 to prepare and file the federal and state tax forms. This method of filing taxes is recommended for individuals or families with simple tax requirements and file the 1040EZ forms, if you or your family have complex tax requirements then SnapTax is not for you. Instead, you can check out this list of Free Tax Software that you can use to file your taxes.
The SnapTax app is compatible with any iOS device running iOS 4.1+ and Android-powered devices with Android version 2.1+. Before you install and use the SnapTax app, make sure that your mobile device’s camera is working as the app requires taking photos of your W-2 forms. SnapTax is available for download from the App Store.
Btw, TurboTax has another tax filing tool called TaxCaster Mobile that you might find useful when preparing your tax forms. TaxCaster Mobile is an app that lets your calculate how much refund you’ll get from your tax returns. TaxCaster Mobile is also available for download from the App Store.
