WordCamp Philippines

WordCamp Philippines

If you’re a Pinoy blogger or a WordPress user/fan then most likely you’ve heard or read of this already. But in case you haven’t, I have good news for you. There will be a WordCamp held in the Philippines this coming September 6, 2008. If you don’t know what I’m talking about here’s a little info.

What is WordCamp?

WordCamp is a conference type of event that focuses squarely on everything WordPress. Everyone from casual end users all the way up to core developers show up to these events. These events are usually highlighted by speeches or keynotes by various people. WordCamp is a spin off from the popular BarCamp which was a spin off of FooCamp. - Weblog Tools Collection

WordCamp Philippines will be the first ever WordCamp organized and held in Asia. WordCamp Philippines is being organized by a group of Filipino bloggers based in Mindanao who were also responsible for organizing the successful 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit held last year.

What are the objectives of WordCamp Philippines?

…to encourage more developers to use and deploy WordPress, not only as a blogging engine but also as a full-featured content management system for Web sites. Another is to increase the number of WordPress users and developers in the country. By developers, we mean programmers of WordPress plugins and designers of themes & templates.

This is the best thing that happened to Firefox, aside from Firefox itself. That’s what AllPeers is saying about their new Firefox extension. I believe that this extension will definitely attract more people to use or even switch to Firefox.

Unleash your online experience and add multimedia sharing capabilitities to your favorite browser.

Share private photos worry-free. No passwords to remember, no public access.

Share your videos without uploading - save on hosting costs while saving time.

No cumbersome interface. No sharing restriction. Private and secure. No spyware, no adware, no annoying advertisements.

Do you like free software? Do you like Firefox? Do you like sharing?

We do! That’s why we built AllPeers.

AllPeers 2.0 is a bittorent client that will be integrated into Firefox and will allow the user to share files from pictures to audio files & video files. The user will have a buddy list which shows which buddies are online or offline and the user can also check what files each buddy is sharing. It also let’s the user choose who to share the files with. AllPeers will work even if the user is offline. How cool is that!? And users even get an RSS feed of new files that a certain user has added. Who knows they might even add chat and VoIP capabilities to it in the future. Can’t wait for this extension to be released.

thanks Jays! i’m planning of getting my own domain name some time this year. btw, about IE and Firefox, the problem with IE is mainly the security. Firefox is considered to be safer. Also, when you use IE you have several windows open right? With Firefox, you only have one window with several tabs inside. You can also install different extensions for different purposes. one good example is the “undoclosetab” extension. what it does is that if you mistakenly close a tab, you just right click on your browser and click Undo Close Tab and it will open it back. there are lots of other extensions you can use.
