Been realy busy last week with a client’s website so I wasn’t able to post any updates or publish new blog posts. Hi folks and welcome to the 153rd edition of the Weekend Roundup! My apologies for missing last week’s roundup. I went on a trip last week, drove up north and spent the whole weekend in Michigan and then drove up to Chicago on Monday then came back home Tuesday. I was planning to work on it and have it published on time but I was too tired from all the sight-seeing and driving. Ikea Cardboard Digital Camera

Ikea, the popular Swedish home products company that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture like tables, bookcases, desks and beds recently ventured into the technology market with the introduction of their Uppleva all-in-one HDTV entertainment center – TV, Bluray/DVD player, 2.1 virtual surround sound system with wireless subwoofer, WiFi-ready etc.

If that isn’t cool enough, the furniture giant also revealed via press kits in the recent Milan Design week event that they would be also producing and selling a digital camera. What makes Ikea’s digital camera unique is that it will be made out of cardboard. The cardboard digital camera will feature a swing-out USB plug, a viewfinder, shutter key and erase button. It will run on two AA batteries and can hold up to 40 pictures via the built-in memory stick. For now there are now details regarding the sensor, lens, storage capacity, pricing or availability.

Since the camera is made of cardboard, its safe to assume that the product was built to be disposable. However, unlike other conventional disposable cameras, the Ikea cardboard camera is digital so logically it’s reusable – the user can download the photos, clear out the memory and reuse it.

1st Baguio Blog Conference

As a Pinoy (Filipino) blogger, I’m very glad to see how blogging and the blogging community has immensely grown back home in the Philippines the past few years. In fact, I’m a bit jealous because back when I was still in the Philippines, there weren’t any blogging events such as Wordcamp Philippines, iBlog: The Philippine Blogging Summit, regional events such as Cebu Blog Camp, Mindanao Bloggers Summit, Socksargen Blogfest, etc.

While browsing through Facebook this morning, I found out that the 1st Baguio Blog Conference will be held within a couple weeks’ time. Inspired by the success of the other blogging summits I’ve mentioned earlier, several local bloggers decided to organize the Baguio Blog Conference.
