Finally! This morning was the first time for me to watch Jose “Sway” Penala perform live eversince I posted my first entry about him.
After the girls had their turn last episode, it was now the boys turn to strut their stuff. Sway chose the song “Reasons” by Earth, Wind and Fire. He sang most of the song in falsetto and in the last part went back to his natural voice. This impressed Randy and Paula. But not Simon, for him it was “pimpish”.

I think his performance was great. It showed good range and a variety in his part. Talent and personalitywise, I believe that he has what it takes to be a great performer and to win this contest and that he has a better chance to win it than Jasmin Trias did last year. But it all depends on the fans who send in their votes.

Cracking open an old post.. :)
I just finished mixing one of the final songs for Sway’s new album, “My Story” which will finally be out in a few weeks. I’ve known Sway and many of the other producers on the album for a very long time (Classified Records/DnH days). This is definitely a back to the roots kind of project. Check it out!

i agree that song selection is very crucial in this competition. we saw several talented people lose in the previous contests because of the wrong choice of songs.

His performance was one of the most anticipated for me but I have to admit that I wasn't blown away. He does have a great voice but he has to be more careful with his song selection.
