Affiliate marketing is one of the many ways blogs and bloggers generate income. I’m sure most of you, especially those who have blogs are familiar with this because some of you are also members of affiliate programs and have affiliate links across your blogs. Here on JaypeeOnline, I also have several affiliate banners and links which mostly are for premium WordPress themes.
So what’s wrong with affiliate links …

I got the idea to create this tutorial when my cousin asked me to help him restore the drive icons on his laptop. He explained to me that he recently installed a tweaking program that changed the default driver icons and after uninstalling the program, the default drive icons went missing and he couldn’t restore it. Below is a screenshot that he sent me.
As you can see …

The first thing I did when I went back to blogging was to make sure my WordPress installation was up-to-date so I upgraded it to the latest version which was WordPress 2.6.1. I also updated all the plugins that I have via the Plugins section of the dashboard. One of the plugins I updated was Akismet and at that time, the version available was 2.1.7. All upgrades went smoothly and I was able to …

Recently, I tried installing Adobe Photoshop CS3 on my laptop but when I started the installation process I got this error message:
Internal Error 2739. Contact Customer Support.
I rebooted my machine and tried to install again but I still got the error. The next thing I did was to copy the files locally on my machine and tried installing it again but I still wasn’t successful and got the same error message. Finally, I decided …

The Tiger Style Admin was the first admin theme plugin that I came across and used in my WP dashboard. It’s also the first admin theme I featured in my Pimp My Dashboard series.
When WordPress 2.3 was released, there were many plugins that were affected like the Extended Live Archives and Ultimate Tag Warrior. The Tiger Style Admin was also affected but unlike other compatibility issues that some plugins had, …

Recently, I talked about how a member of the WP Pinoys forum encountered a problem using Extended Live Archives on WP 2.3. This time, another member complained about a WordPress blog that keeps on reverting to the default theme. When I checked the WP support forums, it seems that this is an issue that’s been bothering many WordPress users.
Why does this happen? …

In the WordPress.org section of the WordPress Pinoys forum, one user who accidentally upgraded a WP installation to WP 2.3.1 started getting database errors everytime a comment or post was made. Upon further investigation, the user found out that the culprit was the Extended Live Archives plugin.
I have been using the Extended Live Archives plugin for my archives page up until …

Several months back, after my blog’s PageRank dropped after two successive Google PageRank updates I mentioned about my plans of filing for a site reinclusion request at Google Webmaster Tools. One of my readers, Aahz left a comment and asked me how to file a site reinclusion request. I promised him that I would post about it. A promise is a promise so even if this is a bit late, I hope this answers your question Aahz and I hope this would help others who might be interested in filing a site reinclusion request but don’t know how to do it.
Btw, most people know or call this as a “reinclusion request” but Google refers to this as “reconsideration request”. Why? Because not all penalized sites or blogs get removed from Google’s index so reconsideration is more accurate than reinclusion. Got it?

In my post entitled How Secure Is Your Password, I promised you guys that I would show you how to make use of the hidden password generator in Windows XP.
This is a built-in feature of Windows XP that only a few people are aware of. With this tool, you won’t have to download a separate password generating program or go online to visit a password generating website. It only takes a few …

Hotlinking, inline linking, direct linking, leeching or bandwidth theft. Call it whatever you want but it all means the same thing, the loss of precious bandwidth. Bandwidth theft is very rampant in the world wide web.
If you don’t pay for hosting or don’t have any bandwidth limits, then you might not be worried about it. But to those who pay for web hosting, especially those who have a small monthly bandwidth limit, every byte counts. You wouldn’t want to exceed your limit because other people are using up your bandwidth by hotlinking your files, right?

Whenever you want to update a certain program in Ubuntu, most of the time you do it via the Synaptic Package Manager. Unfortunately this is not possible for Gaim. For Ubuntu users who’d want to update Gaim to Pidgin, you’ll have to do it manually.
In this post, I’ll show you the necessary steps in order for you to update Gaim to the latest version of Pidgin. Before you install Pidgin, you’ll have to make sure that you have the necessary SSL libraries to make MSN and Google Talk work. To do that, you need to open Terminal and run: sudo apt-get install libnss-dev libnspr-dev. Once you’ve done that, you can proceed to installing Pidgin.
