Technical Difficulties

I apologize for the lack of updates and for not promptly replying to comments, emails and not being able to visit your blogs. If you look at my blog, it would seem to be okay and you won’t think something’s wrong with it. However, in the past few days, I’ve been experiencing some technical difficulties with my blog. Yeah I know, it doesn’t seem to end! A couple weeks ago, my blog was down for long periods of time for several days. Now, the problem is within my WordPress Admin panel.

It all started when my web host upgraded PHP to version 5.2.1 and everything went haywire! First thing I noticed was an error in the main page of WordPress Admin panel saying – “Method Not Allowed” and that it had something to do with the index-extra.php file. I was puzzled because I wasn’t upgrading or editing anything and I didn’t install new plugins. Later, I found out that PHP wasn’t parsing (browser asks you whether to open or download a php file). The next thing I did was to remove the wp-config.php file from the server so it couldn’t be viewed or downloaded by others.

After that, I uploaded a new set of WordPress files and proceeded with an upgrade. Then I found out I couldn’t even do that. I contacted my web host and one of the admin guys went online to assist me. I repeated the process of uploading the WordPress files and doing the upgrade and this time it worked. However, when I was starting to activate the plugins, I discovered that some of them didn’t work and some of them caused errors in my WordPress Admin panel. Some of the plugin options page are blank, incoming links from Technorati no longer show, I can’t view previously published posts just to mention a few.

Since these problems started, I’ve been preoccupied on trying to figure out what to do and how to fix them. And because of that I didn’t have time to write new posts and reply to your comments. It caused some type of writer’s block, that seems to be worse than my post-interview syndrome. I hope you guys would be patient enough to wait for a few more days because I’m working on something right now that I hope would resolve all these issues. Thank you and have a nice day! :)

I'm used to these type of situations but I still can't help but be frustrated. I'm just glad everything's back to normal now. :)

  2. Don't worry, your fans will all be patient. :) I can relate to what you're going through in some way… when I upgraded from WP 2.0x series to 2.1x series, all kinds of errors barfed up on my site… Huge pain in my a$$ trying to figure out what went wrong.

  3. @Jim – Thanks man! :D

@jhay – Yeah, I noticed that your site was down and I kept checking it was down for quite a while. Good to it back online. :D

@alaeh – I was moving my files and restoring my backups in my new webhost. It's okay coz if someone clicked on it they wouldn't be able to install coz the file isn't there. Hehe :D
