ABS-CBN belittles blogging?

ABS-CBN belittles blogging?

Blog

ABS-CBN was supposed to include in their season ending episode a segment about Retz, a blogger who made almost real-time updates on the popular local show, Pinoy Big Brother. His blog provided the latest scoops, activities and evictions complete with screencaps. The segment was supposed to be aired last Thursday, December 15 on PBB Revealed.

However, according to the staff, due to some technical problems and lack of air time, the segment wasn’t included. Then they said it was gonna be aired on Sunday, during PBB’s Christmas party. I wasn’t able to watch the program so the following day I visited Retz’s blog to see the update about the segment being aired. But alas, when I got there I found out that the segment was totally canceled and won’t be shown anymore. What made it interesting is this:

Medyo nakakahiyang aminin pero ganun eh, they (ABS-CBN mgt) feel like Retzwerx and the blogging community didn’t made an impact on their shows.

So that was the reason why they didn’t air that particular segment because they felt that this particular blog didn’t have much of an impact or effect on their show. If you have been visiting Retzwerx during the time PBB was showing, you’ll see that the site gets thousands of hits everyday and I know for a fact that those unique hits or visitors came to read any updates regarding PBB. I wasn’t a PBB fan, but because I always visit his blog, I read all about the PBB updates and get to know what’s happening without watching it on TV. To a lot of people especially fans, this blog became the unofficial site for PBB updates.

This has gathered a lot of attention especially in the blogging community. The Cat is enraged with what happened, Jobert says this is why he prefers GMA 7 and Yuga has raised some good points about this matter.

We’ll see if blogs and blogging really doesn’t have an impact.

I remember, nung isang episode nila after matanggal si sam.

yeah, as far as i know they will be having a season 2 of PBB. just from the texting alone, i'm sure they got millions of pesos from that and that doesn't include the profits from advertisements and merchandise.

  1. [...] To Peter: Maraming nasaktan sa buong pangyayari. Markku, Rickey, Katchwina, Yuga, Cathy, Jaypee, Jobert. Aba, ala “Dear Abbey” ito ah, hehehe. After screening and filtering 6000+ new mails, most of them were from the U.S. of A and some Asian countries. Mostly how they feel about ABS-CBN and some much like the mail posted here. It’s heart-warming to receive such mail which somehow shows courtesy to my blog. Salamat Peter and the rest who sent me those mails, maraming maraming salamat! Seek and ye’ shall find (and you can shove it up your @$$!) and yet there’s one more question unanswered. Why still blog about PBB after what happened? Hmm, looks like I have to include this on my disclaimer: Putting up a new blog is much like putting up a business. You need to research, learn new things either galing sa aklat (hehe) or experience and commitment. Research – questions asked like – what type of tools (CMS/script) am I going to use? where the heck will I host my site – where will i get the money to run it? what blogs are IN right now? Paano? Uhm, let’s say I have a mutant ability to do just that, hahaha. Learn new things daily, for me this is a vital trait every blogger should have. Just look inside your PC and you’ll know what I mean. Watching the show enabled me to learn a lot of more things about human behavior, sino ba ang hindi nakapulot ng bagong kaalaman (tama man o mali) sa PBB kundi yung mga hindi nanonood. Earn Money – no people, not all the screncaps or photos you see here were looted for free. Most of it was scrapped from PAID livestreams. Hmm, siguro naman every businessman alam na in operating a business it involves time and money (maski naman non-profit business orgs) so it would be harmless to say na “part” of my goal on running my blog is to earn money na rin diba? But much to these reasons, even before I started writing focusing on Pinoy Big Brother I knew it will be the most important factor why I did and why I should continue writing about the show. Commitment. Commitment to all Pinoy Big Brother viewers. Commitment to give them updates and insider infos especially to those who dont have access to the show, through primetime or livestream, all this for free. Should it boost or not the ratings of the offending station. So do bloggers created an impact for Pinoy Big Brother? My answer is a solid YES! It’s a matter of how they presented it and how much impact did it made. If retzwerx isn’t extensive enough for them, get yourselves a biased information on their site. [...]
